I appreciated the lack of jumpscare noises in some of the scenes, such as Craig's initial reveal. Just the reveal happening in absolute quietness was very unsettling for me
@domphilbrick3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it reminded me of the Xenonorph reveal in Alien (the director’s cut if I remember correctly). There’s no music or loud noise, you just suddenly see the creature, and you’re like “Wait, is that... holy shit, there it is!” I think it makes the moment feel a little more real because if you were in that situation, you wouldn’t have a loud noise letting you know the creature is there either.

The homelessness comparison still holds up when Craig is introduced. He is simply just a product of a higher power, which was left in neglect and became a monster that then gets out of hand. He not only represents homelessness itself, but its the epitomy of the difficulties homeless people face. May it be experimental drugs or circumstance that created him, the homeless whom are left ignored by the government had to face him every night beforehand. Its only when us, the priveledged people who don't have to face the difficulties of poverty, drugs and no home represented in the protagnost is involved do we see the terrors that those who do not have security will have to deal with every night, or even what they can become. The shiny well kept metro and the vulnerability felt alone in a public place plays in beautiful contrast against the decrepitness of being left Left to rot in the infrastructure meant for those who 'have a purpose' in life and are 'worth the effort' due to their contribution through taxdollars. I saw this movie so long ago, and I was pleasantly surprised to have come across it again. Thanks for the video Ryan.

UNDERRATED MEME COMMENT 😂
@tobiasrieper12123 жыл бұрын
Referring back to 14:12. I interpreted another meaning towards it: The protagonist is seen and is passed off as just another homeless person by the commuter and is such treated in that way. They place a coin in front of her and walks off calmly like nothing has happened. Litttle do they know she has been through hell not too long ago and has literally killed someone. I think this adds another commentary to homelessness in the fact that we just pass them off as nothing and we have no idea what they have been through, maybe it also says, becuase we dont know their story we shouldn't just look down upon them.

Honestly, once you go into horror movie territory, you can’t really expect "situational plausibility". Most horror elements themselves rely on the suspension of disbelief.
@Johncornwell1032 жыл бұрын
The only horror film I can think that doesn't make you suspend disbelief is The Thing. Yes the premise is one of the most crazy sci-fi ideas, but now the characters and story develops from it's premise is one of the most realistic ways possible.

This sort of reminds me of the movie “The Tunnels”. Similar plot but better executed, and more intriguing creature. I could only find it on KZbin. Not to buy though.

The mockumentary angle of it legitimately makes it feel far more grounded than it ends up being. It really went under the radar though dai.ly/x2bokjk

I like to think I'm a hardcore horror fan who is hard to scare and remember this film taking me completely off guard and giving me major anxiety.

Damn, didn’t know this director also made Triangle. That’s a genuinely good movie as well. I may have to check out the other two by him as well, since Creep is also a great movie.

I’m very glad to see a video on this film. I didn’t realise the guy made Severance too. Definitely excited to hear that you might do a video on it at some point.

Ryan, untill I discovered your channel I never really understood horror. Never thought it could be so symbolic and deep. I was kind of ignorant to it. But thank you for opening my eyes.

"Have you ever had a dream that felt like it would never end? That you're trapped in a seemingly everyday place but it fills you full of dread and anxiety and you don't exactly know why?" Yeah dude I'm an American. That's every day.

This was great! Found your video, watched maybe two minutes of it before deciding I had to watch Creep, watched the movie and then came back here to finish your video. The movie was creepy in a very lovely way and it had some beautiful shots in it, besides the characters actually seemed like real people! Thank you for this video, it showed me an entertaining and spoopy movie that I most certainly would have missed out on without you.

Thanks for another awesome video Ryan mate, me and a now sadly passed buddy of mine went through a period of watching Creep every few days, it's a wicked movie that has a lovely Savage edge blended with the slow tense lonely horror. Really hope you get to covering Severance soon, I love it and it's a movie that I found genuinely disturbing, primarily because when we went to the cinema to see it me and my wife were literally the only people in the theater, it got so creepy that my wife wanted to leave, I said we had to stay as if we left there would be no one watching it.

Dude you need to talk about Severance at some point, while horror comedies arent an original concept it blends the two into an entirely unique tone.

I’ve never seen this movie, just your vid, and when the business man drops change at her feet I went “OH MAN, OOF” out loud. That hits home!

I was totally hoping you'd get around to this gem! I watched it from the video store as a middle schooler, and it has always stuck with me. Bought it a year ago or so and still thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad someone is bringing light to the depths of the tubes :)
