Enjoyed watching Stood on those terraces as a kid I also built that wall that now runs along the new boundary, with my dad. great memories seeing this as I've lived in Oz 26 years

I followed The Tigers both home and away during the 60's, when we always seemed to well outnumber the home supporters wherever we went. I recall that standing on the terraces at Skegness in the middle of winter always presented quite a challenge and now in my 75th year I've still got the club scarf that my mum knitted for me all those years ago. Anyone remember Charlie Middleton the club 'mascot' and his "Tiiigers" "Tiiigers" chant? As for the ground - the River Ryton flowed directly behind the Kop and the Chesterfield Canal directly behind the covered terrace at the other end, so there was a member of the ground staff on stand-by with a large fishing net should any wayward shot on goal end up afloat. Good times and great memories, best wishes to you all. Thanks for posting.

I remember Charlie Middleton. My husband's family were all supporters and volunteers at the Tigers.

Spent many a week nights watching worksop. I remember Emlyn Hughes giving me his autograph. I think he was the manager of Rotherham but cannot rem, but it's great to watch

Really interesting video. Too young to have visited Central Ave. so was very informative.

This brought back a lot of boyhood memories for me. Saw my first game at Central Avenue in 1959 age 7. Followed the Tigers through the 60s seeing them win the old Midland league in the mid 60s. I must have run up and down those steps at the Canal end dozens of times as a kid. The reason for the Spurs replay was at Tottenham was simply that the Worksop directors thought it would make the club more money than playing at home. In the early 70s I watched a Sunday league cricket match Notts v Somerset at Central Avenue.

I might be wrong ,but I've got it in my head I went there with other Sheffield United fans for a pre season friendly in the late seventies early eighties ,it's got me thinking and phoning my old blades mates .

@@chrisstones1249 potentially - Worksop have been a regular pre season game for the blades. I’ve only ever been to sandy lane though.

Excellent video, thanks. Saw my beloved Frickley (Colliery then) lose there in the old Midland League in what was a league decider Mmd 70s. Central avenue was rammed and despite being gutted to lose it was a great atmosphere.

From what little there is about the period on the internet it appears their eviction from Central Avenue coincides with them being relegated from the Northen Premier League, but whether that was the cause of or an effect of their eviction doesn't appear to be clarified anywhere. So fascinating to see what still remains of football's early days

There still playing youth games in the community at Rotherham United’s old ground ,you can sit in the old stand and watch on a Sunday . Be a good video if you ever went that way 👌

Yes I don’t live too far from Millmoor. Unfortunately it’s been done to death on KZbin so it’s not high on the priority list, would rather go to the places that don’t get that much attention….ill leave you with that to guess where the next one is! 😉

Very fancy scoreboard, but a terrible looking outfield. You'd be disappointed in a park pitch having an outfield like that. Is their bowling and fielding so rubbish that they need a sort of cabbage patch outfield to cut the runs down? It's hard to see if the square is decent or not, but I wouldn't like to bat there.

Nice to see somebody interested! Worksop is a dump! Tigers moved to Sandy Lane. Site on Central Avenue is Cricket ground and caravan site. Flooding is regular! Bassetlaw are a pain in the neck, killing off what was a good market town! Empty shops.

Worksop moved because crucket club sold it off for redevelopment of shopping centre.
