I'm pretty sure that "Black Sand" is mine tailings.
@jrm44088 ай бұрын
It is. We call it "stamp sand" because it was a byproduct from extracting copper using huge stamp mills that crushed the ore and separated the more malleable copper.

Just got back from there last week. Pretty close to peak/slightly past peak foliage there then. Also did Montreal Falls at sunset. I hope the new mansion owners keep that trail access point accessible as I had to walk from the gate as well. Brockway Mountain in Copper Harbor is the place for sunsets, sunrises, and the northern lights. If you are in copper harbor by the bay in town, there is a little old fishing shack called Jamsens…awesome baked goods…donuts and Finnish pancake with thimbleberry jam was some of the best I’ve had. You probably went south of there, but the copper peak ski lift is pretty cool in ironwood, MI. Also have the porcupine mountains and black river and presque isle river waterfall paths.

Yeah.... I can definitely see the huge value in getting something like a gladiator if you like to overland. People worry about all the off road Angles and stuff but just put a 4-in lift on it and move on, you know what I mean... It's fine... It IS true that a shorter wheelbase wouldn't need as much of a lift but as far as I can tell , people can get a 10 foot lift on the Wrangler platform if they want, lol... You did Moab ... Case closed... You can probably get out somewhere for a much longer period of time because of how much you can carry with you not to mention safer (from a survival perspective). They don't make a turbo gladiator yet do they ? Gonna be awesome when they do. Would be GREAT if they did turbo + hybrid. I wonder if you'd have to bring all those battery packs and stuff with you if you had a hybrid, maybe not.

Great place to explore. Under 6 hours for me. So many neat places to explore in Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Lake Superior shoreline is full of beauty-especially in autumn. Fewer bugs too! Thanks for showing me a few trails I’ve missed. Next time you go make sure to stop at the Jam Pot. Great baked goods and jam.
