Northey Island is beautiful, Stephen! Gorgeous landscape and lovely spring flowers. I had never heard the term "bird hide" before but found out it was like a bird blind. We loved the sound of the birds! Kathy and I would enjoy living in the Wardens house. (I wonder if there's pizza delivery?) Loved spending a wonderful day with you and Peter. Thanks so much for bringing us along.

Thank you Dave and Kathy, it is certainly a very lovely island, I would love to live here too, if it wasn’t for all of the spiders. I never filmed that, but the marsh land is full of them. I think pizza might be a no lol 😂 you may not have phone reception to call for delivery anyway lol 😆 it’s a great island though, there was something very peaceful about it peaceful and very calming 😉

Hi and thanks, Stephen and Yhana - History and Adventure Hunters for taking us to Northey Island in Blackwater. Wowow starting with a time-lapse of the sky. I hear gusty winds. Is it typical weather in May? I am not certain, but you visited Northey Island at the lowest tide??? So cool. I love visiting old weather rock ruins @6: 26! What? Actually, somebody resides here on the island @8:02. No internet? they must like a solitary life away from the chaos. Very informative and educational video. OMG, you are a great storyteller. Look forward to watching more of your videos. Cheerio! 😊😊

Hi Stephen, apologies we are just catching up on your channel. Really enjoyed coming along on this walk with you. Some great scenery there, always so interesting to go across a causeway, feels so cut off from the rest of the world. Amazing that their island only got electricity so recently! Thanks for talking us along, Shell and Pete😁👍
@StephenandYhana2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shell and Pete, I find that fascinating too, I have no idea how the warden managed for so long, I’m guessing he used generators. Imagine it… no WiFi either 🙀 lol 😂

@StephenandYhana2 жыл бұрын
Thank you guys for watching and for the comment too 😊😉 I don’t think they have any gas pipes on this island. Just electric and off cause they only received that a few years back. They must have had to run everything on generators. Tough living I’m sure 😊😉

Nice walk! The scenery reminds me of paintings of the Dutch or northern French landscape. I imagine the tide will sneak up on you there. Just look at the profusion of cow parsely (?) around that stone adopted bird hide.It's always exciting going over a causeway - that frisson of almost fear that you might get caught out! Nice to get some history too: I've been watching and enjoying The Last Kingdom which is right up my street! Thanks for the walk with out and your buddy. ATB, Terry
@StephenandYhana2 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, thank you for the lovely comment, there are some dangerous stretches along this coast where the water does come in very fast. One is the most dangerous pathway in England, called ‘the Broomway’, we are not allowed on it, unless your with a guide. I do plan to do that walk this summer. I certainly love the landscape here, probably the best we have in Essex. Nothing like the Scottish landscape of cause. My great grandmother’s family came from Aberdeenshire. I hope to do a big visit there again one day soon 😊 catch up soon Terry.

Lovely video again Stephen. You can just picture vikings and saxons here battling to the death. Very interesting little bird hut you found, looks like an old well as its right by the lake. What an isolated place for the warden to live. I bet they have to make sure they are well stocked for food, cant just pop to the shop for a pint of milk!

Hi Stephen. A really unique and atmospheric landscape! It must be a lonely and isolated life for the warden. Not sure if I envy him/her or not! 😁
@StephenandYhana2 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of the solitude myself, although I can imagine winters are pretty ghastly on that island, not to mention the millions of spiders are saw crawling around on the grassy mud flats lol 😆

Wow, talk about being "off-grid"! Not an area you would want to get caught in the middle of at a high tide time! Now that really was a great explore! If you did something with the colour, it sure had a great effect! Bruce and Otis
@StephenandYhana2 жыл бұрын
I did do something with the colour lol, I desaturated the video, as the area is bleak and I kind of wanted to show that in the video. Well done buddy for noticing that 😉😊 catch up with you wonderful guys soon 😊

We’ve never heard of this island. Our English geography and history knowledge is shocking!! What a cool place. I’d have loved to have seen this place in Viking times. Wow it only got electricity 7 years ago how crazy, but again how wonderful to live in that solitude! That’s the coolest bird hide ever, it’s a turret!! Great video, we really loved the scenery and views on this one. Cheers and hello to poor Yhana who is in school! 🍻
