@@Anonymous-ux8ku it’s lines up along the bank but, I feel like they stretched out the shore too much. I understand lore wise it’s because the dam likely broke in RDR1 since it’s obviously not developed in 2010. But, the climate and elevation are different. The Great Plains has dried up grass across the whole region and it spreads to the eastern part of the north side of the river. Where in 2 the grass gets greener out of nowhere as it gets north while still in Great Plains. And the height difference in 1, you couldn’t see anything from the south side as in 2 you can easily see Riggs, Lone mule stead and other landmarks from the south end. Some of the things made a return but I wish the overall landscape would’ve been used instead of redoing it from the ground up

This makes me think that instead of creating the map for RDR2 from scratch with the new locations first, that R* initially instead started by porting the original map over and worked their way north east. I originally thought they might've started with the new locations first and finished New Austin last considering it's only explorable in the epilogue and all they really had to do was port over the old map but this makes me thing they actually started here and changed the terrain into whay we now know was Big Valley
@TheCynicalAutistАй бұрын
If you look at leaked maps, they did start from West Elizabeth onwards, and they didn't even have anything past Thieves Landing. The leaks probably made them finish adding the rest of the US map due to fan expectations, but it's clear they didn't intend to add it, at least not beyond it being scenery like Mexico.

This is why an RDR1 remake to hold us over to GTA6 wouldve made the most sense. Not only would people then be able to experience Red Dead on the 9th gen, but us PC folks would also be able to without emulating. But on top of that, they also couldve had portions of the RDR2 map in the distance to keep the lore consistent. Maybe have the Montana River be flooded from a storm or something in-universe to make a reason why John cant go back across or something.

They did a pretty good job adapting whatever mess of terrain they had in the edge of the map in RDR1 and making it into a coherent map in 2. Wish the PC port would bring some kind of references or updates to the map from 2, but likely it'll be a 60 fps patch for 50 bucks like PS5 version was, plus, they're all working on GTA 6 so unlikely they have the time to update 1.
