The 1932 film "Ride on the Columbus, Delaware and Marion (CDM) Interurban" was created by L.C. Stag, Vice President and General Manager of the Columbus, Delaware, and Marion Electric Company, following the interurban's round trip journey from Marion to Columbus and back.
Jeff Darbee narrates the silent film, providing background information on the CDM Interurban and the sites seen along the way in Central Ohio.

As a volunteer tour guide and conductor with the Ohio Railway Museum in Worthington, Ohio, I'm pleased to note our #501 at 1:13. 502 as I was told is privately owned. The line we operate on is former Columbus Delaware and Marion Interurban Railway trackage of the early 1920s "Worthington Cutoff". Come visit us on Sundays 12 to 4 pm May through December. We also offer our Ghost Trolley and Letters To Santa events. Our opening day for this year will be May 5.

My grandfather was a motoman on the interurban. I don't have any moving pictures, but I do have some photos. If you are interested, respond to this message. By the way, I did do a ride on that interurban car at the Railway Museum. When I was a boy, my father was always pointing out raised places in the ground where the interurban used to run. I still see some of them even today. Thanks for this video. Glad to know that the interurban is not completely forgotten.

When I was very young I remember riding in the back of the car coming home from trips out of town during the holidays visiting relatives along 70 and 71 at night with the elevation of the interstates providing quite a view and all the lights on everywhere getting me thinking of all the families in each of the homes and feeling the sublime feels of just how many people lived in so many houses over so much city. These viddies give me that same sublime feeling again, but of how so many different families have lived in each of these houses over all the decades in which these homes have been here for so very long.

Fascinating history. I grew up in Groveport in the 60s and 70s, and along Blacklick St. there are still tracks from when the interurban used to run through the town.

Given the congestion and all of the stop lights that have been added for the developments along 23 over the years, being able to go 80 between Delaware and Columbus with no traffic would useful nowadays.

I noticed you used a still image taken from the north end of my hometown Miamisburg showing the 5 lines of transportation side by side including the Miami-Erie canal, Miami River, Dayton-Cincinnati Pike, Big Four Railroad and interurban traction line. All exist today except the tracks running down the road. We sell quite a few reprints of that photograph at the Miamisburg History Center. John Warrington

Sad and depressing to realize this used to be a state that supported it's citizens' needs.

Thanks. I like to read mysteries published decades ago, and one of them mentioned an interurban. I had never heard of it before, and now it's nice to see it in action.
