Ojojona or San Juan de Ojojona is a municipality in the department of Francisco Morazán in the Republic of Honduras. It is located 32 km south of the capital Tegucigalpa. It has 36 historic buildings, some of which date back to the colonial era, such as the Church of San Juan Bautista (ca. 1682), the former municipal council or Town Hall and the old museum. It also has a mining past, whose silver extraction center was located in the village of Guazucarán.
In its territory there are caves, waterfalls and rock shelters suitable for hiking and tourism. Ojojona is also famous for its thriving pottery industry. It currently has more than 150 pottery stands. The national painter José Pablo Zelaya Sierra and the composer Francisco Ramón Díaz Zelaya were born in this community.
