Lot of times they built it for ww2. And after it they just didn’t have ues for it. Logging back then was big.

It's a lot easier to sleep in the bushes if there is a mattress there;) P.S. you forgot to climb the trees:)

From 1911 to 1950's ish thos shingles were used.. so the cabin could be older..? The cut marks or hueing marks. The Iron would give a better date. Hinges.....

Thanks Russ! It is really hard to tell. I did ask the forest archeologist and she didn't have an exact date. The cabins were left over from the previous owners of the land.

@@CuriousKarli saw marks, the type of iron color and shape, shingles, tin, glass, bottles, or carbon dating....are what we use. My Grandparents we're sure to educate me on the past. You are welcome . 35 years of exploring..The Dutch, Russians had a different build construction. The Dutch used floor joist and filled the floor spaces with wood shavings. Others filled it with ash. ( Ash will preserve eggs and other goods.. a door in the floor can sometimes be found. The food storage is a good date information.. as well like cellers. Or drying or salting can be stored in ash or wood shavings.

Hey Karli! So good to see an update. I'm sorry to hear that forest burned. The power companies need to take better care of their equipment so this stops happening.

Great explore. It looks like the cabins were a busy place in the 1930s and 40s. There were even railroad tracks running through there. Then in the 1950s the tracks were torn up and the cabins abandoned. Which looks about right. Usually abandoned unmaintained wooden structures like that stay intact for about 30 years. Then they start to cave in and fall apart. After 60 years they completely fall apart. After 90 years they are just random pieces of metal and wood on the ground. The decay process is very interesting. 😎👍☮
