Lived there 10 years. Rent is super high, there’s nothing to do ( you need to drive to Sarasota or Fort Myers) for fun and the jobs paid squat when I was there. You needed two or three incomes to be able to have a decent life. The minimum wage wasn’t $15.00 an hour back then. Glad they changed that

Port Charlotte is great!! Was born there in 1984 at St Joseph’s Hospital on Harbor Blvd, idk what it’s called now. I’ve moved away but a lot of my family still have houses down there. I love going to visit them. There’s absolutely no night life but it’s super chill and calming there. The sirens you’re hearing throughout “the hood” are ambulances. Port Charlottes two major hospitals are right there across from each other. Would definitely recommend living there, maybe go east of 41 tho with all the hurricane and storm surge threats lately. 🤷🏻❤

Lived in the same house in Port Charlotte for 35 years. Never had a problem ! Just because you have an older home don’t make you bad. All of that was not easy street areas all around. Your near the hospital that’s why the sirens. Both hospitals are down the road. Block and stucco homes.

A great place to live as long as you don’t need healthcare! We have three for profit hospitals that generate a sucking sound while the money comes out your wallet. They are marginal at best. With West Port now adding to bloat the population and no plans for a major health center to be brought in to the community, if you come here be YOUNG and HEALTHY because if you get sick you will be in trouble. My own doctor told me that for a procedure I need to have done (elective) look for a surgeon in Sarasota or further north. During season the traffic is becoming brutal...we are becoming like the east coast - not why we moved here- we came here to get out of society. We hate snowbirds...so just send your money!

If you plan on buying a house don't live there. At best it's rental property that's if you can get good tenants in there that'll pay and not destroy your investment FR. Technically the beginning aerial shot of the unfinished Sun Seeker Resort is in Charlotte Harbor. Pt Charlotte actually begins about North on Rt. 41 (Tamiami Trail). Allegiant Airline stop construction a year ago. They are currently looking for a buyer to pick up the pieces. It said that it would only work as a Casino with a Grand Hotel, condo towers with 17 bars and Resturants. IF they build it will you come? The county has spent millions on it now and planned to spend alot more than Allegiant!
