I'm also a Yankee in the south. I grew up in Port Huron but I live in North Carolina now. The fort gratiot lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in Michigan

The Huron Lightship was stationed out at the beginning of the Commercial Navigation Channel out in the Lake 6 Miles to help ship to safely make the transit from Lake Huron to the St. Clair River that leads to Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River, and into Lake Erie. The Lightship served as a Coast Guard Lightship to provide a beacon on the water to show the beginning of the entrance to the St. Clair River. It was decommissioned in the late 1960's and was eventually donated to the Port Huron Museum who then build a permanent mooring in Pine Grove Park and is available for tours by the public. It never his any wall or other vessel!

Loved this. Great to learn that Thomas Edison was from Port Huron. Fascinating story and a great claim to fame for Port Huron. Its a lovely little town on the river and a joy to see Dawn's old stomping ground. Enjoy your trip.

Thomas Edison hated Port huron. Apparently there was some family scandal and the town would talk about it all the time and he grew to resent it

Dawn should have film this for her channel. I hope you would travel back up when it is warmer so that the places should be open. I really enjoy this video.
