In this explore we visit the Eastney battery in Portsmouth.
Construction commenced in June 1861 and was completed in March 1863 at a cost of £17,435 for the two Eastney batteries, West and East, including the banquette and ditches that lay between them and surrounded the forts

Thanks for exploring these 2 Batteries. I've lived in and around the area since the 50's , and, although I've know that these existed I have never seen any part of them. This is fascinating, and it's a shame that you cannot get permission to film in daylight. We have had the Interior of the old RM Museum/Officers Quarters taken away from Public viewing. Perhaps we should submit a National Heritage Lottery Grant bid to have these decaying structures restored to a decent state. Well done lads.

Great explore, I'm new to the area, moved from Lancashire, me and hubby got married in Southsea, Queens hotel, so I love that area. Omg never knew there was sand!!! In all fairness though I've never visited eastney, yet. Will do now, lol. New sub btw, from the secret vault. Love what you guys do and wish I was brave enough to do it myself. Keep doing what you do as I'm living vicariously through you.👍

Great explore, plenty of fun. The inside of the tunnels looked really good when you lit them up, shame we couldn't see more of the surroundings. I will say Jordan might have been quieter. Keep up the great work 👍.

Hi Alex & Pompeye, that bird is it a Crane ???. The Raleigh Chopper frame won't rust as it's Aluminium, my Daughter has a MK II & a MK III. I think that old box could have been used to store ammo ???. A great explore both of you, it's amazing how many still exist around the country but most are on the South coast. That area in the beginning I would clean it up and make it into a picnic/ BBQ area with some seating and a pool and do something with the buildings maybe turn into dressing and bathrooms.👍
