Exploring portuguese abandoned military facilities 🇵🇹

Inserted in the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park, the 7th Battery of the Costa de Outão Artillery Regiment has a privileged view. On one side, we observe the Tróia Peninsula and the Sado Estuary. On the other, our gaze easily gets carried away by the Atlantic Ocean.
Now abandoned, the 7th battery was part of the defense line of the Atlantic coast and the ports of Setúbal and Lisbon. Created by the Portuguese Armed Forces after the Second World War, it was active until 1998.

Inserida no Parque Natural da Serra da Arrábida, a 7ª Bataria do Regimento de Artilharia de Costa de Outão tem uma vista privilegiada. De um lado, observamos a Península de Tróia, e o Estuário do Sado. Do outro, o nosso olhar facilmente se deixa levar pelo Oceano Atlântico.
Hoje ao abandono, a 7ª bataria fazia parte da linha de defesa da costa atlântica e dos portos de Setúbal e Lisboa. Criada pelas Forças Armadas Portuguesas após a Segunda Guerra Mundial, esteve activa até 1998.
