Yup. He's basically just showing the neighborhood he's from in an effort to show how from the streets and "roots based" he is. I've been to Singapore 3 times over the past few years. Noone I know there has heard of him. He's pretty full of himself. How Vice chose him to be a Guide of anything is hilarious. What you're seeing here is a very small, isolated community as part of Singapore as a whole.

And there’s an even unbelievably bigger audience that will eat all this. I think this is built on the assumption of ease of “sharing” and importance of “global trends”. I’m half Singaporean and honestly i’ve never heard of many rappers trying to make it over there, especially while rapping in Tamil. It’s very unusual what he’s doing so let’s all just be happy for him and try to support a fellow human being 😇 (also not everything is about money, he’s just doing what he loves)

As someone with very little context of the culture and socio-economics of these people, I cannot understand the hate. The title is misleading, but I still found the character entertaining. The vocalizations and tempo of modern rap is just not for me man. I grew up om 90s and 2000s rap and it just seems so much more complex and interesting. They really focused hard on creating complex and lyrically interesting flows. I mean, maybe I'm way off base but it seemed to take much more raw talent back then to create something really good. People like Dre, snoop, tupac, WU TANG, Redman, BIG, NAS and even Eminem. and now we have stuff like takashi 69, post malone and lil xan.....
