This might be one of my favorite parks you've visited so far. They allow horses! The hitching rail could have been commemorating a beloved horse that had passed...."Fly high Dragonfly...." maybe that was his name. And the bench all decorated up looks like it might have been in honor of someone who also passed, that used to love to sit on that bench. Beautiful, amazing place that's for sure. Hard to believe it was a stone quarry at some point!

Hey Deb, Yes, nice that horses are allowed here! I believe that "Giorgio" was a horse - "King of the Wind" on the hitching post plaque is probably a memorial to him. I was told much later that the 2 plaques on the bench (one with "Fly High Dragonfly") were placed there in memory of a mother and father's 2 addicted sons who died of overdoses. I even found a YT video on that....will send you the link. A sad tribute, and one that is meant to raise awareness of the issue in Sonoma county. Those flowers were probably freshly placed there by those parents. Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts!

Sonoma Co, is one of my favorite areas of California! I lived in Monte Rio a few years back in the early 2000's, and try to get there every year for a visit! There's something magical about those Redwoods!
