The earliest reference to Habung comes in the 10th-century copper plate grant of Ratnapala of the Pala dynasty . when it was a province (visaya) of the Kamarupa Kingdom with Brahmin settlements. It is known that Sukaphaa, the Ahom king, spent a few years in Habung before finally settling down at Charaideo in 1253.

'Talatal Ghar' was supposed to be made as puzzle for saving them from enemies as told by my elders. The uniqueness about it: when you go downstairs you will feel that you are climbing up. In the structure unique things were used like sticky rice, duck egg and the egg shells. The reason of the four storeys were being blocked was, as long ago some couple went to visit that place and got lost on the lower section of the structure and never came out. They couldn't find the body so they covered the lower section of the structure and it is still not allowed to go down. I don't know about the lost couple story and the puzzle is true or not but the lower section is completely closed with concrete I saw it with my own eyes 15 years back. May be they must have opened it now for tourists. I'll check when I visit there next time. You also forgot to mention that 'Shiva dol' temple's top most dome is made of gold the other two temples also had the dome of gold which was stolen by the Brits. They also managed to bring down the Shiv dol dome which fell in the lake beside it however before that could be taken out we got our independence and they left it there later it was placed back on the top. I don't know how much truth is there in it; I was told by my cousins about this story who stays in Shivsagar. Shivsagar is now filled with illigal immigrant of Bangladesh so you'll see lots of mosques near the Shivadol and even the shopkeeps. Big request to all youtubers to show that in your blogs and appeal to government to look into it. They make fake IDs to reside there. I stopped going there from past 15 years as I felt that within few years I felt like I'm either in Bangladesh or Pakistan. I don't have any issue with religion but I can't stand these illigal immigrants, who have easily captured our lands.

I think Ahom Dynasty is coming to limelight in last few years outside Assam and it is getting much needed exposure to the rest of india. It is high time that a chapter is dedicated to history of Ahoms in every state's history curriculum. many foreigners are doing research on Ahom Dynasty. i knew a few from Australia, New Zealand and Thailand.

Thank you very much for showing the monuments built by the Tai Ahom kings on your channel. Most people in India do not know about the Ahoms who defeated the Mughal army 17 times. The Government of India should include the Tai Ahom Empire in school, college and university textbooks so that everyone in India can learn about the Ahom rule.

Kachari Kingdom was established in the 9th century. When Sukapha established his kingdom in the 12th century, Kachari kingdom was said to have already extended along the southern banks of the Brahmaputra river, from Dikhow river in Sivasagar to the Kallang river in Nagaon and included the valley of Dhansiri and also the parts of the present-day Dima Hasao district. The Dikhow river was said to be the boundary between the Kachari kingdom and the Ahom Kingdom.

By the way, the talatal ghar is not a palace. The 4 storeys that are underground lead to a bunch of many different tunnels. One of the many routes leads to the dikhow river. The other routes lead to nowhere. It was constructed so that the king and his family can safely escape in case of an invasion. The different routes are meant to confuse the enemy.
