Today we're exploring SOMI who is under The Black Label, as Somi is apart of the YG Family you know I'm checking her music out. Somi released a brand new song today called 'Dumb Dumb' but also taking a look at 'Birthday' and 'What You Waiting For'. Somi Doum, better known by her Korean name Jeon So-mi (Korean: 전소미) or by the mononym Somi (Korean: 소미), is a Canadian-Dutch-Korean singer and songwriter based in South Korea. Jeon propelled to domestic stardom as the first place winner for the first installation of the Produce 101 competition series and became a now former member of the series' project girl group, I.O.I. Following the conclusion of all group activities with I.O.I, Jeon ventured to various solo activities before terminating her contract with her former agency, JYP Entertainment and joining The Black Label. There, she made her debut as a soloist on June 13, 2019, with the single "Birthday".

Somi is one of the idol that I envy the most. Like when I watched her show I am somi.. I saw how carefree she is when it comes to her label mates and even the ceo (Teddy). She's also the youngest in the label if I'm not mistaken which is why the older artist and producers look after her. And Teddy gives her the freedom to be creative when it comes to her songs which I appreciate the most.

SOMI was a former jyp trainee and competed in "sixteen", the survival show that formed twice but she didn't made it to the final lineup. She then participated in "produce 101" where she placed first and debuted in a temporary group called I.O.I which was active for 10 months. After ioi disbanded, she was supposed to debut in itzy but then she left jyp and signed an exclusive contract with the black label

The reason why her mvs are this good is because of YG's standard in production. If they want to go all out they will, and you can see it from Birthday up to Dumb Dumb. The reason why she has those banger music is because of Teddy. Of course she takes part in her music and is hands on, but we can't deny that Teddy's magic touch really makes one a banger, and that beat drop proves it.

@@keepitreal7831 yeah that is true but it doesn't change my comment. she was too young to debut along with 3 other girls which was unfair to have them competing to debut knowing they wouldn't be able to anyway and its understandable that she chose to leave after being a trainee and doing 2 survival shows and being officially debuted and yet still not given music or a group for another 2 years. I think she left for more than the fact that the music had gone in a different direction than she wanted. I also think he didn't put her in Itzy bc she was way more known and popular than the other girls and that is the reason she left. The timing just works out for that to be the case.

basically somi has lots of songs during I.O.I era it was her group but they disbanded due to contracts. And also when bigbang what asked what 3rd gen girl group are they looking forward to they said I.O.I, she is also a schoolmate of itzy ryujin, chae, yuna. You can see them during her graduation at i am somi vlog. She is also teddy's princess 💗 1 of the reason she only had 3 comebacks after the group disbandment is because she focus more on studies as she says on her vlogs.

The best part about Somi is her personality, to say that she's "quirky" is an understatement. If you want to have fun, check out her KZbin show I AM SOMI (Lisa even shows up in Episode 5 at the BLACKLABEL studio!) ***btw when Lisa went on the TV Show REAL MEN 300 in 2018, Somi's dad Matthew Douma was also in the cast. He helped Lisa through some of the rougher exercises, he treated her like a daughter. Matthew Douma is a Dutch-Canadian actor who works in S. Korea.
