What town would you suggest for 4 nights of rest and relaxation? Which is the prettiest? We are thinking of booking in Traunkirchen

Traunkirchen is a pretty lake city. Almost all towns in Salzkammergut region are pretty. It is hard to pick one but I'd suggest Bad Ischl because of its location. It is located between Hallstatt and Salzburg and will give you the flexibility to do more day trips to explore other towns in Salzkammergut region including Traunkirchen. Bad Ischl was the summer home of the royal family and the place for them to relax. This will work out great if you rent a car but if you don't rent a car then Bad Ischl has a big bus hub that has connections to almost all towns in Salzkammergut.
