I grew up in Nacka. You should have come to Harrarby Sjöstad 30 years ago. The place then looked like a dump. It was a small business industrial area.

Nice! My office has been in Hammarby Sjöstad for just above a decade now! If you're having lunch anywhere near the water, see if you can spot any beavers, there are a bunch living there. Also, it's not long ago that it was a harbor, the first time I was there, (back then it was called Södra Hammarbyhamnen) around 1990, it still was.

Oh, beavers, that is pretty cool! I will definitely keep an eye on them next time I'm there, thank you! 😊

And from there you should've taken the tram "Tvärbanan" towards Solna and gone off at Gröndal, a real gem!

Nice i was working there with NCC one summer maintaining trees and plants, nice to see it's still alive and green. :)

Uli, I'd like you to go through the different reasons to celebrate during the year. Next weekend it's Whitsun and that Sunday it's Mother's Day here.

Hammar dont means "Hammer", its an old Norse/Germanic word that means "rocky height" or "cliff.

The most ugly part of Stockholm :((

I can see that people have that perception. It's very different, quite residential as well and modern. It definitely has less charm than the old town, for example.

@@LivingSwedish No charm at all in my book. Not only compared to Gamla Stan, but to all parts of the genuine Stockholm. Like Vasastan, Östermalm, Söder, Kungsholmen, etc. I.e. all parts that wasn't demolished by marxist modernism in the 1960s. Its cousin deconstructivism dominates today.
