Exploring SubD in the Rhino 7 WIP

This is SO awesome! We're finally getting back to some of the T-Spline modeling capabilities that I've been mourning. Did I mention AWESOME?!?! Thank you!

Thanks for your enthusiasm! We are also very excited! Make sure to participate on the forum, discourse.mcneel.com/c/serengeti/sub-d. The tools are currently like "clay", we are "sculpting" them to make them as useful as possible. The forum is the place to help us achieve this goal ;-).

Not a T-spline indeed, but good enough to replace it. Many CAD programs have it now such as NX, Modo, Alias, even Blender (free). T-splines downside is that at star point (poles) it's got G1 continuity only (it is at the point, but still can not qualify as A-class). The good for T-splines is that at star point it does not introduce a lump, whilst SubD would do it to the surface. Therefore it is recommended to have quad-faces for SubD processes. T-splines was meant for T-junctions of edges, hence its name (and it does it perfectly smooth G2 as long as it's two edges away form a star point).

that is a backface setting- on windows : tools>options>view>display modes> shaded> backface settings on mac: rhino7>preferences>displaymodes>shaded> backface settings

H, please how I can show the SubD palette tools...I don't find it

Download the trial of v7- if you don’t see the subd toolbar run the toolbarreset command in rhino and restart it. It should show up at that point.
