Inchcolm Island in the Firth of Forth is an Island Adventure not far from EDINBURGH and an IDEAL location for a quick day trip without travelling a long distance. It houses a large seabird population (with loads of PUFFINS during the summer months!) and an incredible 12th Century Abbey which is looked after by Historic Scotland.
To get there, we took the "Maid of the Forth" for £20 per person which gives you 2 full hours to explore the Island as well as some incredible views of the Three Bridges (Forth Road/Forth Rail/Queensferry Crossing) during the journey.
Did you know Inchcolm Island is only inhabited by 2 people? And even then they only stay there during the summer months. Otherwise, it's completely uninhabited and only accessible via ferry from South Queensferry.
