Thanks for posting this. I've had the pleasure of visiting a number of times over the years, and this video brings back a lot of memories. It's always a treat to go there and I always seem to see something new. My favorite spots are the famous Cochiti from the Super Chief and that monster of a cab forward! IMHO, this museum of not just for railroad afficionados. Lots of history. If you get a chance, it's well-worth a look-see!

The California State Railroad Museum is full of many pieces of historical railroad equipment, My favorite steam locomotive that they have in the museum is Santa Fe 1010 (A 2-6-2 “Prairie” built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1901).

Definitely the museum is such an interesting and fascinating place. Pieces are so huge, so much iron and steel 😀

@@ExplorationToGo I have been to the California State Railroad Museum a lot back then. Also if you want to learn the history of these beautiful locomotives, you can go each of their Wikipedia’s that most of them have.

Kinda wish you showed the outside yard with the F40PH and others, but still, great video! really encapsulates the feel of the museum

Yeah, I did capture more of the outside area from my Old Sacramento video. But next time I will capture more of it when I get back. Thanks for the comment!

Tks for the video, really enjoyed it. Was there in late Nov 2019 just before COVID. Brings back memories for me and the kids. 😊

Especially there wonderful railroad equipment. Also currently two of their three Virginia & Truckee steam locomotives are now on loan at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, Nevada until sometime soon on this year, while the NSRM’s Virginia & Truckee #18 “Dayton” (Built by the Central Pacific Railroad’s Sacramento Shops in September 1873) is displayed at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, California.

People used to be able to go inside those train cars, and the locomotives, so they can get the full experience. I guess not anymore :(
@ExplorationToGo Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the video was taken during the pandemic so I think they didnt allow people inside the trains because of it. I will check it out again when I go back.

@@ExplorationToGo Oh okay. Understandable. I plan to visit the museum again soon. I haven't been since 1996.

The Old Sacramento area isn't as bad as you think. The museum is well worth the visit.

So much more fun impressive than our “national” railroad museum in Green Bay. Kinda depressing really.

LOL. They are all different in a way. But thanks for the comment! :)
