Before owning a deluxe I thought the D'angelico's were just "another semi hollow". But my god are they nice to play. Even the premier models are very well made. I have a Fabrizio Sotti Deluxe and it is SUCH a good guitar. The sustain is insane. Plays so good and looks so nice. I'm thinking about a second D'anglico and the bedford is on the shortlist.

I have the solid body Bedford, Humbucker/Single coil, in Army Drab Green. I love it!! My Gibson and ESP are jealous.

I've had this guitar a couple months, and while the neck joint is REALLY nice, I don't think it's for everyone. I 100% appreciate it for what it is, but I'm having a hard time justifying keeping it when I'm in a punk band and it just doesn't hit the spot. It sounds really close to a telecaster but when you switch to the bridge pickup it shoots all clarity and articulation out the window even after adjusting pickup and pole heights. If they used different pickups it could've been a banger, but it missed the mark for me. I've been thinking about swapping them, but honestly I think I'd be better off with a different guitar. I currently also own a Riviera and I'm looking at a couple Reverend. The Bedford is one great looking guitar, but I don't think its as well-rounded as these guys want you to think.

At 11:00, I couldn't see if it was neck PU only but it sounded muffled little dark My question is do you get the percussive and woody sound out of the single coils?

I own this guitar and the pickups (Seymour Duncans) are wonderful and articulate not as quacky as my start but close, I love it!

I’ve seen some bad reviews on the pickups for this guitar. I’m guessing the people were expecting the mini hum bucker to be able to handle distortion. Obviously that’s not what this guitar is made for. How do you feel about the pickups? Do they get muddied at all? How do they compare to other guitars in the same price range?

Never had a problem with the mini bucker and distortion. It does just fine

Mini hums are balls with distortion. There was a shortage of Seymour Duncan mini hums that were slated for a Deluxe Bedford, and two other Deluxe model limited runs-those “50 pieces each” turned into 3 pieces each-two mini hum Deluxe Bedford SH LE Satin White Wash

You're going to love it! I personally have always had a great experience with D'Angelicos that were shipped to me. No issues with the action or any fret buzz problems. Nothing that required me to immediately go out and get the guitar set up. That said, going the Plek route is never a bad idea. You pretty much guarantee a perfect playing experience with the Plek Machine, so it's definitely not a waste!

The Weir model has different pups than this one; P90 in the bridge and neck positions, and a different more strat-style single coil in the middle. The Weir model also is a solid body (iirc) and definitely has no f-hole cutout. I’d venture to say the weir model is probably not quite as bright-sounding as this model is, and P90s definitely have a a different tone from a mini humbucker and Tele style single coil. The Weir probably has more of a creamy smooth sound overall. Both seem to be great guitars, but if I had to choose between one of those I’d probably go with this version. That’s just my opinion though, I really like semi-hollow guitars. Get whichever one you think you’d like better.

I wouldn't call it a powerhouse with those pickups,unless you're speaking strictly jazz and even then no, I think it's more of a niche guitar, not really a broad spectrum model but it's still cool. I heard it has quiet a bit of neck dive, even with a thicker strap. Looks like a jag got rear-ended. I did play one at GC and I LOVED the neck and neck joint (or lack thereof)

I've had my Ultimate Ears for like 7 or 8 years. They've held up well and I haven't seen any reason to get a new pair. That said, it's been 7 or 8 years since I was in the market for IEMs, so I'm not too familiar with the "latest & greatest" options...

Between this one and the Atlantic which one do you think feels better and sounds better?

TheMusikryder honestly it’s a tough call. Even though the Atlantic has cool splits, the Bedford obviously does the single coil thing much better. I’ll always have a bias towards the Atlantic, and I definitely still love it a lot. I was playing it yesterday for the first time in a week or so, and I was like “oh yeah, this is still the guitar you fell in love with.” So versatile and comfortable to play. It’s my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned. I do think the Bedford SH is a special guitar though. The two tele-style single coils really sound great. I think once this guitar becomes a regular part of the D’A line (aka not just the limited edition finishes) we’re going to start seeing a lot of guitarists playing this guitar. The feel and comfort is noticeable from the second you pick it up and the sound is just so rich. Both are great options. I’ll always be a little more partial to the Atlantic, but I’d be willing to bet most people would have a hard time not picking the Bedford SH.
