In this video we venture into the Google Graveyard, a website known as Killed by Google. This site serves as a list of old discontinued Google products and services, as well as old KZbin features that have been lost and removed. Together we uncover forgotten old KZbin features that have been discontinued or removed over time, some of them well loved. From changes in KZbin history to questionable moves by Google, I look into all of Google's past. So many useless things rightfully removed, like Google+, but also some beloved services like Google Hangouts, Google Domains, and the KZbin dislike button. Not always a bad idea to kill a product that didn't do good. Most of the products were a showcase anyways just a prototype to later (probably) work on. Not always happens but hey be happy that atleast they try and experiment instead of Apple selling the same smartphone as the last one with the model number incremented.

7:03 a real story that actually happened to me: I remember years ago I was trying to use community captions to translate a Fundy Minecraft video to Spanish. it was a bit hard so I abandoned it mid-way, a long time later, I decided to come back and finish the translation, only to find out that Google killed community captions. I never regretted a decision in my life so hard.

I miss youtube annotations, it was a great way for people to correct mistakes in their videos and link to other videos on the fly. It mostly died because it was only on their desktop website and as people shifted to mobile they didn’t add it to the app.

I have a Cardboard, I hate that they just kinda stopped properly supporting it, especially for wider aspect ratio phones now. The 'Cardboard Stories' (or something? those short films? I think they're here on KZbin now.) were great, and I especially loved that arctic fox demo in the official Cardboard (or Cardboard Experiments) app. Liked to just chill sometimes, watching the lighthouse and northern lights with the lil dude. Helped me to relax in a really annoying time back then. There's even still the 'watch in VR' button here in the app - Google c'moooon! Edit: It's 'Google Spotlight Stories'! Was harder to find than expected, without remembering the name. Highly recommend - I'd rate 5 stars.

@@Tam33m Pretty much the entirety of Snapchat is lost media, most creators I saw using Stories were mostly posting cropped clips they had available elsewhere anyways. Only a small portion actually took vertical-upright videos on their phone to upload as a story

I was devastated when Google said they were killing Jamboard this October. Jamboard is a great way to brainstorm ideas, and because all my students have Google accounts anyway, it’s so easy for them to map out their group projects. I can get them to explain their Jamboard to me so that we can make sure everyone has a fair share of the project. I suppose I could use Slides instead, but Jamboard was quicker and less fiddly, so it was more conducive to brainstorms.

One of the most recent ones: Google Podcasts, but it's only gone in the US right now. In June, it will be gone to the rest of the world. (They "replaced" it with KZbin Music, but a lot of podcasts that were on Google are not on KZbin Music. For example, most of the podcasts from NPR (stands for National Public Radio) - although TED Radio Hour and Fresh Air are actually there)

Half of them had to go since they could be merged to Google’s main suite/bigger apps, but some of them should’ve stayed like Nexus devices where every year Google would have another phone brand make their next Stock Android phone, it was interesting to see how the companies did the phones. Even though Google has been making Pixels since 2016, they’re still criticized since they were never a hardware company & since the Pixel 6 they stopped using Snapdragon chips & instead Tensor silicon but that has performance issues. So Google basically tried mimicking Apple’s M series from 2020 but they actually scaled back because the Tensor chips are comparable to the Snapdragon 7 series chips (made for upper mid-range phones) instead of the 8 Series (made for flagships). You could also argue that Google doesn’t have resources or time to continue these things but Jamboard should’ve stayed as well cuz it was very easy for teachers to present something instead of other services & you know a small percentage of kids struggle to go to a simple website so that’s why. KZbin Originals should’ve stayed because KZbinrs would be more connected to their audience if they wanted to go mainstream, but on their own platform. Also KZbin editor should’ve stayed cuz new KZbinrs didn’t wanna buy or know how to use complex & detailed video-editors. I think KZbin Music could possibly be axed next & integrated into KZbin.

google stadia was the biggest hit for me just cause like i used google stadia all the time i played tons of games on there heck even got like 300 hours on a bunch of games and then 1,000 hours on destiny 2 it had 1080P no input lag no queues no time limit you you hit play and bam you started booting into the game and the updates were soooo quick and i made so many friends on there and then google did nothing with it and just killed it off
