We love it when Folks come to town. Love seeing the ATVs traveling through town in a line. Speaking to all of you when we are all at the restaurant or gas station. Great people visiting WV. I love it.

WV is a special place. Have been traveling there all my life and I have a bond with the state and its people. It’s my second home.

one of the advantages of having no leaves in the vtrees is that you can see alot further in the woods and maybe spot a deer or two

I heard someone got shot there while Trey riding. Is this a safe spot to ride? I’d love to go check it out.

We refer to it as "Mud". Mud was a town that used to sit in the middle of the Northwest section of the mine. Search for Mud WV and Google maps will safely take you right in from anywhere.

What are your thoughts on the side enclosures? Where did you get them and are they worth the money? Problems as far as mud/dirt and fogging up?
@TarheelTrailblazer

I’ve run SxS Enclosures brand for two years now. Only time I get fog is if I cross a creek/mud hole and water hits the motor. I just open the window vents for a minute and it defrosts. Worth every dime.

Thank you. I do 2-3 open rides per year. Go to my “Tarheel Trailblazer” Facebook page and see the “events” tab. That’s where I post everything.

What roads are best to access this area?
@TarheelTrailblazer

From our lodging, we went up US 119, turned onto WV 3, and then an immediately left along the railway onto the natural gas road that takes you out to the mine.

Are jeeps allowed on these trails thanx.

This mine isn’t part of any trail system, so bring whatever you want. Jeeps ride these trails all the time. Also, the nearby Hatfield McCoy “Ivy Branch” trails allow Jeeps and rock buggies. Good rock crawls over there.

Looking for a tire mount for the hitch on my RMAX. Also, is there a group chat with rmax owners on Instagram or just a text message group? Looking for a group to go ride some trails with and enjoy the outdoors.

I’m not aware of a RMAX group on IG. There are plenty on Facebook. Here’s the link to the tire mount I currently use: Quick Adjust UTV/ATV Receiver Hitch Spare Tire Carrier (Length 17") www.amazon.com/dp/B08478YTHW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_MZWXBN9JC5D4Z3GCKNKB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

When I was a teenage tripping around places like this in Western Maryland and West by GOD Virginia was an adventure. Strip mining was in full swing machinery like drag lines so huge they would park their pickup trucks in the buckets to keep me from stealing the gas from them at night. When they moved them they would contact the state and county official and ask what the fines would be for crossing the roads. Never knew the amounts but they would go across the roads and put up steel plates over the rutts. Cheaper to pay the fine than dismantal the draglines. I was given free coal and they would load up my 3/4 ton ford with sideboards with so much coal I had power steering. Bucky GOD rest his soul would tell me where to park swing the dragline around and with pin point accuracy dump the right amount on my truck. Yep two tons on a 3/4 ton pickup. I can still see him laughing his butt off. Throw me a shovel and say " Have at it kid.' But what the hey I was getting $5 a ton delivered to your bin. Gas .13 cents a gallon or what I could get free and my time. I was making money.
