Really great review and coverage! Love the videos! I am pleasantly surprised by some of what they did with this. I think you make a great point (and one of the other comments, too) about the stagnant/misses here. The (very) old Poly lobby had moving water and flowers/plants, and it was one of my favorite places. The clean and sterile “vibe” is nice- but it’s not what I actually want. It does look much better than I expected, though. (As you pointed out, when you are looking out, at least.) Thanks and keep the great content coming! Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed! Thank you for your comment. Like I mentioned, there are plenty of things I was pleasantly surprised with about the tower. The theming is there, just wish there was a lot more of it.

actually...after visiting HI....not everything is dark colors...so kinda like the lighter colors of the lobby...i just wished they added tiki torches on the exterior around pathways..etc

That was another miss! Where were the tiki torches? Perhaps the lobby will grow on me, but I just wish there was more foliage and flowing water ya know?

How they ever got permission to build such a giant generic apartment block next to all the iconic buildings of the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian is a mystery.

Your guess is as good as mine.

omg that tower is offensive. Looks like a 1980s I-drive hotel. Doesn't fit the themeing. Disney died years ago but my god do they just make it worse every year.

I’m tired of people saying it doesn’t look like Hawaii or a Polynesian island. The Polynesian Resort design aesthetic is stereotypical “island”. The tiki style didn’t even originate from Hawaii or Polynesia.

I understand where you are coming from. I've never been to Hawaii, so perhaps if I've visited, I'd be able to appreciate the tower more. However, whether the original Polynesian is stereotypical or not, the point is that there's no denying the tower does not match the rest of the resort, hence why it seems out of place. As a major Disney Resort, everything should feel connected and cohesive, and the tower breaks that cohesion the Polynesian has had for over 50 years.
