Great interview. It's great to hear the in-depth research is continuing. I love that you're promoting the courses from Dr. Ede & Dr. Palmer. Maybe in time my wife's NP pychiatrist will be ready to get fully behind ketosis. He's currently very focused on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation which he Really Really believes in... I'm trying to keep an open mind as I watched my wife receive ECT many years ago and it was kind of like a computer reset function... quite fascinating...but sure hope she never goes through those again. I'm totally believing in the low carb approach because I can observe the difference in my wife's next day behavior when she sneaks fruit at night... Hard not to have oranges this time of year... :)

I had a course of TMS for treatment resistant MDD and it was miraculous. I felt better than I ever have in my life. I did not have the money to continue follow-up treatments so it did not last long-term. I am now going to start therapeutic ketosis with a nutritionist and psychiatrist, but certainly not ruling out more TMS, depending upon my results with keto. I will have the money later this year to do TMS again. I live in Greece, where TMS is much more affordable than in the U.S.

@wateranddirt8658 Very Cool. Yes, it appears very expensive here and currently not approved for schizophrenia treatment. However, NP pychiatrist believes there is potential to try since my wife has had a combination of bipolar and schizophrenia for many many years. I believe the intermittent fasting is helping her as well to get close to Ketosis, but she's always gotten up in the middle of the night to search for food...tough to break lifetime habits. Thanks for sharing your experience with TMS. Best of luck with your Metabolic Therapy...

I have post workout insomnia after tennis or a hike. I think I have low dopamin. I am trying to eat ketovore to get into ketosis. Very difficult to not fall off the wagon (eat carbs) when I am very tired with low motivation and not yet having enough ketosis to feel good 😪

Don’t do what I did. I went straight to below 20g. Was tough. Sorry to hear that exercise is stopping you sleeping. Very strange. What does your doctor think?

What about researching the link between toxic metals like mercury, lead, aluminium, cadmium and arsenic and how this impacts not only metabolism but the functioning of the nervous system and brain? This, I believe, is strongly linked to all sorts of mental illnesses and expressions like autism, ADHD, OCD, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's etc. Dr Goodenowe has done some interesting research on the link between plasmalogens, myelin and these diseases.

Good points. Also studies on glyphosate, emulsifiers (which disrupt the microbiome), many food additives and microplastics are all negative factors for mental and general health.

@jebbevers8239 yes all that too! Good points as well. It's toxicity of all sorts I suppose.

I think mental or psychiatric disorders should be called neurologic disorders. They all occur inside the brain, have problems with dopamin and other neurotransmitters, have problems with carbs metabolism, like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
