hey my brother ....you really should be tied off on a line before heading down and have someone up top just incase ....the first level at the back is a Powder Magazine.... more than likely they trimmed up the safety fuse on the work benches and hung them on the nails for each round ...really surprised the shaft bottomed out so quickly ...beautiful area ....be safe out there and keep'em coming ....and as always we smashed that like button real good like

Jesus Mary & Joseph, I was "sketched" out for you! I never freak out during your explores, but this was the exception.

As a retired assayer, i find the assay offices special. Those two things that you referred to as furnaces were actually hoods that the furnaces sat in. They probably had some kind of exhaust fan incorporated into them. The two concrete tables are the first of their kind in an old assay office that i've seen. Those are weighing tables. The assay beads are so tiny that any vibration would throw them off. Now a days the pedestal for the table and scale go through the floor and are on their own base. Even a truck rolling by could cause a problem. Hey, thanks for the share, always enjoy; especially since this old timer can't get out much.

I sure hope you let someone know where your going in case you ever get trapped or incapacitated somehow. I’m older now but think back when I was younger at some of the dangerous things I did with no regard to my mortality. Stay safe, you’ve only got one life so please make wise decisions and take care of yourself brother. 👊

Badass. I like how you keep exploring despite how shaky your hands are. I would’ve turned around when I saw the erosion around the cement cap! Have a good day, and I hope your next explore is more safe lol!

I’ve been to that area myself & even tossed a few rocks down that very shaft to “ guess how deep “ it was . I think I counted off for like 15 -17 seconds before I heard the “ Thud “ and no more noises . I would say that shaft was every bit 150-170 feet deep , and that’s a LONG ways down if you fell . Please don’t become a statistic , use some climbing gear at least & tie off up top to something secure before climbing almost 100 year old rotting wooden ladders . That whole area up there by Randsburg / Johannesburg is just riddled with mine shafts and prospects & mines . I’ve been traveling the 395 for over 45 years now ever since I was 16 years old or so , and never get tired of the scenery there. A long time ago there was a complete 2-3 mile long row of old oxygen bottles partially buried into the ground ,(😮) being about 10-15 feet apart & used to string barbed wire between them I assume as some kind of animal fence ( though I have no idea as to what kind of animal they were trying to control) but those bottles have mostly now all been removed by someone or some agency. There’s a pretty good little book called “ Mines of the Mojave” that talks about Atolia , and it’s importance to the war efforts for all that Tungsten ore that was found in the surrounding areas just as you mentioned, and how kids could fill up a 5 gallon water pail with “ spuds “ from outcroppings and make some pretty good money for that time period. Enjoyed this one, and “ Stay safe “ out there man 😎👍.

Hitting the entire vertical mine shaft on a broken wooden ladder alone with no rope or spotter at sunset was the craziest thing I've ever watched lol... Man, I always remember laying in the hospital bed after my last accident and just telling myself that at all costs, this is not a place I will ever end up back at... Be safe!

There is one thing I’ll never understand is what some people get out of deliberately tearing crap up and tagging walls in abandoned structures regardless their condition. It’s downright sickening seeing the damage done to these places. Especially when they have a historical significance of some sort.

Always awesome and oddly YT unsubscribed me from your channel and a few others. Love the explorations, hope you have off-cam backup and let someone know where you're going. Also I'm sure you know but watching cringy descents into sketch-word is easier than coming up 50, 70, 100 yo "ladders".
