There was another time of caracters mentioning the animal references: the lead idol says her comedian boy friend has a "face like a giraffe". However, it might be that she was just using it as a figure of speech, and not literal. i.e. she thinks he looks a bit like a giraffe, while Odokawa literally sees the giraffe.

@system32 he is talking to Dobu and explains that he can spot people in a crowd extremely easily, even when wearing a mask. This is because Dobu (a monkey) has his features "sticking out" of the mask (according to Odokawa's perspective). He also elaborates that he can't find the skull mask guy because he has never seen his face before, and therefore can't attribute animal characteristics to hin.

The biggest mystery was the Dodo. When you pull in a gatcha game that is permanent. No reason it will disappear since its online. I think its something stupid like Tanaka just doesnt notice that the Dodo was in his inbox the whole time

I think the show mentions that he pulled the dodo and got so excited that he didn't "capture" it before losing his phone in the drain. So in effect he found it but didn't save it.

I find it odd that Odokawa always talks to someone in his apartment but nobody responds. People always mention that neighbours can hear him talking to someone but they never say that someone is responding or that they see anyone. Maybe the missing girl was there but ran away after a while and Odokawa is talking to himself because he's schizophrenic. If he's imagining others as animals I don't think it's a massive stretch that he's hallucinating an entire person.

Maybe but I think there is a cat there cause in the op when his head pops up you can see a cat tail coming from a kind of closet, other things like the red and white spiral pen from the oddtaxi music video appear when Tanaka does the Mario jumps

@@MintyDragonfly maybe it's a stray cat he took in. We see that actual cats exist in this world in Episode 9 when Odokawa nearly runs over one. As well, he tells whatever is in his closet that it can run off whenever it pleases in Episode 1. But, the OP shows Odokawa shooing off a cat. So, I'm not sure what's up with that.

On the whole Odokawa = Ex Yakuza, I think Epsiode 8 debunks it since Goriki mentions that it was an actual support group that came when his parents abandoned him and helped him pay his bills.

Since the first 2 episodes, I've been thinking about the theory that everything is just in his head. Every episode it seems to be more likely, especially since episode 8 where Goriki and Shirakawa plan to treat his brain thinking that it helps him recognize things easier which make sense as a person who can identify a person through the animal and traits will be easier

Odd Taxi has some amazing foreshadowing, writing, art, themes, dialogue, and characters, I feel that Tanaka is a S tier villain and the ending is insanely good. I wish more people would watch this anime.

@@DANCERcow Gorika said that there is something wrong with his brain and that he seems to have some sort of sixth sense, it is also shown that Oddokawa can recognize people wearing masks/from behind while others cant, which would seem weird, cause it's easy to distinguish one animal from another, so another hint that Oddokawa simply sees people different

@@dimasagung5887 In that particular flashback the mom is still a monkey, but there's been other flashbacks (from Odokawa) where everything is red and there's a weird art style, and the characters are very clearly human (case in point, episode 1, 10:05)

7:03 It's not totally confirmed yet and it's only strongly hinted at it in the audio dramas, but it's strongly suggested that the heart-shaped pen you see getting passed around from person to person (6:54 in episode 3 just to give one example of where you can see it) is also an audio recorder. Since the pen is only talked about in the audio dramas it's not clear if it'll ever explicitly matter in the anime or if it's just a fun background mystery.

Vivy and To Your Eternity are my orthodox picks for anime of the season contenders. But Odd Taxi and Megalobox Nomad are my favorite shows this season. So good it hurts that people are missing out on these due to its artstyle (OT) or not having watched/enjoyed the first season (MBN).

I’m not sure about the whole Mitsuya A vs. Mitsuya B thing. You make a compelling case though. I seriously doubt that any person is in the closet though. I’ve had a theory about that since the beginning. Plus something happens in episode 7 involving finding something in a river that makes is much less likely. I think there’s a cat/dog/small animal in the closet. Pets aren’t shown to exist in this world. It’d be weird to have the animal human walking smaller animals around. I think Bojack played with this idea at some point. Anyway, I think it’s never shown because it would likely make Odokawa confront his psychosis or just reveal more about his condition as a result of brain injury that the show runners are saving until the end. Hard to look at a cat girl and a real cat at the same time without drawing connections.

This is a fantastic video and really got me thinking. I think you’re onto something about the idol and the missing schoolgirl but I’m not totally sure what the connection is. Obviously the conbini security cam footage and the clip of the original Mystery Kiss girl show the same person and obviously the idol Mystery Kiss has now is not that girl…but the idol was in Odokawa’s taxi and said she was from out of town where they love karaage and the missing schoolgirl is from Nerima in Tokyo, so unless the idol has a really strong storyline that she’s adhering to (unlikely bc food taste is very personal and she’s very motivated by it), I don’t think the idol NOW is the missing schoolgirl. However…I think the missing schoolgirl might have been the previous Mitsuya and maybe she’s the one whose body has just been found. I can’t put it together though, I’m racking my brains lmao and I just can’t understand…was it that she found out about the yakuza connections of the band management and her dad’s connection to them and wanted out so Yano killed her before she could spill the beans? It’s VERY well written to be this intriguing!! Also I’m sold on your Odokawa is ex-yakuza theory, it’s extremely possible. My only query with it is that even though WE haven’t seen his back, Goriki and Kakihana would have and they’d surely have their questions if their old mate had tattoos. Also Kakihana and Odokawa went to school together so I feel like he wouldn’t be able to hide his Yakuza connections from a friend all that time. But he seems to KNOW Dobu (“you couldn’t kill anyone”) before they meet in the car, he seems to know things very intuitively about badger games and stuff…🤔

I think the support group being yakuza or beneficiaries of yakuza is already true. Daimon twins have the same duck thing that Odokawa has in his taxi. Older Daimon says the support group gives it to orphans. I don't think Odokawa knows he might be receiving blood money. The real mystery is, who killed the girl? When Yano's group found her, she was already dead. They just got rid of the body but they weren't the killers. I also didn't count Tanaka's gun shots. How can a revolver shoot more than 6 bullets if he didn't reload it?

1. I agree, episode 12 confirmed that the yakuza are the ones paying Odokawa's finances 2. Not sure who killed Mitsuya but it was probably the one who replaced her 3. Tanaka had an extra bullet left, Dobu miscounted. That's because Dobu assumed that the one who shot him at the harbor was Tanaka, but it was actually one of the Daimons, or someone using one of their guns (the gun that shot Dobu here is specifically a gun that japanese police use)

Hmm, I did try out the first episode and it did not catch my attention to the point of watching the rest of it, I think the story does not out weight my dislike twords the visuals, IMO at least. For me to watch a Anime with a art style I don't like or bad animation even, the story has to be kick ass like mob, and for me this is not kick ass, it's enjoyable for people who have tolerance for the art style they don't like and to those who like the art style, they will have a blast with this.
