Wow Frank these old graves are interesting, it's a shame most of them are forgotten like the 2 people from Italy. I could walk around there for hours reading headstones.

Besides the tombstones that I showed in this video, there might’ve been only one or two more. Most of the many graves are simply mounds of dark rocks with no markers whatsoever as far as I could tell. Hopefully there’s a record somewhere in the county or something like that with a map of the graveyard showing who is buried in each plot. Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for letting me know. As always, I appreciate your support.

@@AbandonedMines11In my experience not likely unless whomever was a keeper of such things donated it somewhere. If the cemetery was a church or municipal one that might be the case. Some private one that folded ???

I appreciate that. It definitely is interesting to poke around these old cemeteries. Did you see my other cemetery video from a couple summers ago out near the ghost town of Delamar, Nevada where we found actual wooden tombstone still in place? Actual wooden tombstones from the 1800s! Unreal!

Thanks, Matt! Good hearing from you again! Are you still up in northern California or thereabouts? Yes, a lot of information can be gleaned from studying old cemeteries. With all the unmarked graves in this one, though, I wonder if there are records somewhere showing who is buried where? I would hope so!

Frank, thanks for stopping and making a video of this cemetery, it’s definitely interesting, kind of sad that so many of the graves are unmarked. The one headstone is County Cork in Ireland. The 4K really pops in this video with high frame rate, great job! Thanks for sharing, Frank.
@AbandonedMines116 ай бұрын
Hey, Dan! Thank you for watching and commenting! I would hope that the county seat or something like that has records of who is buried in which plot. I’m sure they do, but one can never know for sure. Thanks for explaining that County Cork in Ireland headstone. I didn’t understand the wording of that when I saw it. Probably a lot of immigrants came over to this country in the 1860s and took jobs as miners in towns like Candelaria. Thank you very much for the feedback on the video quality as well. I appreciate it. Glad you are enjoying the enhanced clarity and colors.

I wonder if the records of who is buried in which plot are kept in the county seat or someplace like that. I would think so, but you never know. A lot of these graves look to be unmarked. That in and of itself is kind of strange when you really think about it….

Hey, Stan! Thanks for your comment and for checking out the video. Yes, it seems that a lot of these people didn’t live past their 50s. Candelaria had the same problem as the town of Delamar had - water was extremely scarce if not present at all. Therefore the mill at Candelaria, which was right in the town, was “dry milling“ ore which caused the dust to blow into the town and make a lot of the town people sick. The miners suffered the same fate while working in the mines. No OSHA back in those days or EPA or anything like that to keep these things in check, I guess. Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Cool video Frank. It's so sad how sick society is at times that we have to have signs at cemeteries saying to not desecrate the graves... looks like that one was hit by a .22 three times?! Those burial mounds look like something from a Clint Eastwood Western movie. Awesome stuff though man. I'd like to explore in Nevada for sure.
@AbandonedMines116 ай бұрын
Yeah, it’s disheartening to see the tombstones that have been shot up. Why would someone do that? There are plenty of rocks in the desert outside the cemetery to shoot at. Candelaria must’ve been quite the place. I thought it was cool that the founder of UPS was born in Candelaria in 1888. He only lived there for the first few years of his life before his parents moved to the Pacific Northwest.
@AnthraciteHorrorStories6 ай бұрын
@@AbandonedMines11 that's really interesting about UPS for sure. Mark Twain's father-in-law owned that abandoned coal mine town cemetery in my recent YT short. Mark Twain even visited the coal mine village and went into the mines there. Lol. As for the people who shoot tombstones...they're evil, plain and simple. Cowards too.

These old cemeteries hopefully have written records stashed somewhere in a filing cabinet in the county seat. I don’t know, though. I’m not sure how thorough or how good recordkeeping was back in the 1800s.
