Wow, I grew up in Croom and started cycling there when I was a teenager (even rode my bike from Croom to the Sears Surplus in Waldorf for work). So long ago now. Nice to see the suburbs haven't completely taken over. Really enjoyed the video!

Man I love it back there through Croom Rd! Unfortunately due to my schedule, I don't get to ride back there much if at all these days. And that "small" fissure looks like a good place to practice bunny hops lol. Great ride video, as per usual!

Thanks Artie! I was so fortunate traffic was almost non-existent when I rode on that particular day. Looking forward to returning sooner rather than later!

«Private road»... So happy we don’t encounter that on our gravel roads in the Oslo (Norway) area. Some are privately owned by a forestry company, but open to the public.

That is so refreshing to hear, things are very different with planned forest plantations and so on in the United States.

One of the near by gravel roads that was private had one of the owners put a old car in the entrance to block it one way

Good thing we cyclists can get around that if needed ;)

Many thanks! I think I've achieved a pretty life balance, just a shame I need to work a full-time job + GC. I'd much rather GC life only :)

Hmm; I lived in PG and adjacent counties for almost 30 years, but have never been to some of these parts.

Mount Calvert Historical & Archaeological Park is definitely worth a look. I chanced upon that by wandering sans map one day.

Great vid. Thanks for sharing. Is that the built-in microphone of the GoPro you are using?
@GravelCyclist3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ross, GoPro Hero 7 Black, built-in microphone. Sometimes I have to adjust the audio when editing, mostly to increase volume, but it goes a pretty fine job. I'm assuming the Hero 9 Black is better again?

I should have added that I was surprised at how well it sounded! Thanks again.

You should really stop and ask for permission if it's marked private property. Grew up on a horse / tobacco farm in that area. Not many working farms left. Southern PG County was mostly tobacco. Awesome in the 70's / 80's as a teenager. Now, ... not so much. Croom Road is a beast from end to end by road bike with nonstop rollers. My granddad spent summers as a kid with friends there at Mount Calvert Manor.
