This is so funny because the friendliest, most chill chicken we have from our batch of chicks this year is one of our whiting true blues!

I will say, since I made this video, two of my three whiting true blue hens have been broody and hatched out chicks, and ever since I have been caring for them while they were broody it’s like they figured out that I’m not an enemy and they have been ~slightly~ nicer lol 😂

Intriguing, I was under the impression that they didn't really go broody because of the leghorn genetics. I'll have to see what my girls do once they start laying.

I got 5mcoming next week, need some blue in my egg cartons, and I can make olive and Easter Eggers in the future with them too. Thanks for the video, not a ton of info on these chickens

I can confirm they are still laying great and the eggs are beauties. They are also very fertile, every blue egg I’ve put in the incubator has hatched. Nice little chickens. Thank you so much for watching

Do they lay consistently blue eggs?
@JerseyBirdHS2 ай бұрын
Yes and they are Very good layers. The people I give eggs to always comment on how bright blue they are.

What kind of hatch rate do you get with WTB?
@JerseyBirdHSАй бұрын
I’ve had fairly good rates with them. I’d say probably 80-90%. We had a power outage in the middle of the incubation last time so they could have very well been affected by that. So I would say under normal circumstances, probably around 100%.

I would go for the ginger broilers over the big red, but they aren’t available this year. The best meat birds I ever got were the Cornish roasters from McMurray last year, but also not available this year. Bird flu is hitting the farms and hatcheries hard… get some jumbo Cornish x, and give them the broiler booster vitamins every day and you won’t have sickly chickens with bad legs. Them big red broilers kinda suck, they never get full enough for my liking. I still have 4 ginger broiler hens from last year that lay an egg every single day right now.
