The noodles is called “Khao Piark” not “Khao Soi”. Good for you for trying out new dish. Next time dip the fresh veggies in the sweet sauce and eat them separately. Cheers! ❤

Numbers in Thai and Lao are exactly the same except “5” and “9” have slightly different tones. Not really a big deal as a foreigner tho. Also yes, speak complete Thai to nearly anyone in Laos and they will completely understand. The language could be 80% similar or more.

Oh yeah one more exception. 20 in Thai is “yi-sip.” In Lao is “sao.” As a foreigner say either or and they’ll understand.
