Exploring the U.S. Capitol Subway

Special thanks to ‪@Thom-TRA‬ and his wife Lindsey for granting me the privilege to join them on a tour of the United States Capitol and its subway system!
Today we explore a very unique train that looks more like an amusement ride. It's a miniature subway system designed to give US Senators a slightly quicker way to get to their offices. Our law makers use this little train every day. It was originally built in 1909 to connect the center of the Capitol to the Russell Senate Office Building. Another line was built in 1965 to the Dirksen Senate Building and an extension to the Hart Senate Building was built in 1982. That line was retrofitted with self-driving trains in 1993, as the line runs today.
The U.S. House of Representatives also has their own subway system but it's not accessible to the public on guided tours. Those clips are brought to you by Thom himself!

In Canada, we do have a tunnel system under the Canadian Parliament known as the Centre Block Building. The Tunnel system heads to the East Block Building, known as the Ministrial Block. The Tunnel system also heads to the West Block Building, known as the MPs Members of Parliament Block. The Tunnel system heads further east from the East Block Building to the SCOC Supreme Court Of Canada Building. No subway, but it makes for a great walk though. NOTE: The Tunnel System is for MPs, Senators, Parliament Staff, and Supreme Court Of Canada Staff ONLY! NO PUBLIC TOURS due to major construction and renovations of the Centre Block Building which is Canada's Parliament 🇨🇦 Construction should be completed by 2030. Currently the Tunnel is CLOSED from the East Block to the West Block until 2030.
