Take the Tele bass, swap the two saddle for a vintage high mass bridge, and give it some flatwounds and it will dominate.

That's what I did. Surf Green, add a 3 screw American Standard bridge plus TI flats. It's a drop in fit and gives you the option of string thru or top load. I don't know if it's normal for the model but mine came standard with CTS pots. The tuners are also excellent, no need to replace them.

1:53 I bought the Vintera II 60´s Precision Bass and have to say that I expected much more. The nut is notched too low on the D string, I can only replace the nut. The frets from the 16th fret onwards are absolutely irregular, so that the bass can only be adjusted with a high string action, otherwise it makes really annoying fret buzz. The finish is also irregular and bumpy in some places. The fingerboard smells totally strange and unpleasant and although I have applied high-quality oil, which was necessary anyway because it was super dry and brittle, it still smells strong. Without investing more money in it and adjusting it properly, my instrument is actually unusable. I own over 30 basses, mostly high end, but also some low budget instruments, but I can say that this bass is pretty far down the list. Too bad, I was looking for a vintage style p bass in vintage white for a long time. Should have sent the it back …
@hadrosaurus9 ай бұрын
i was wondering about the quality control on these! fender apparently hasn't been good with qc lately
@mixedimagearts9 ай бұрын
@@hadrosaurus In the meantime, with a lot of effort, patience and money, I have turned the bass into a very good instrument. However, I have to say that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't handy. The bass had no shielding, zero, which means I had to completely shield the bass, which I did with 3 successive coats of shielding paint. I had to adjust the frets in the upper registers because I couldn't get a proper string action with the best will in the world. I also had to replace the nut, it was filed broken. Well, the finish is still mediocre, but that's not the most important thing. I gave the bass new pickups, although the factory ones were really okay. New strings of course, flatwounds and the bass is now an incredible sounding bass. The wood itself seems to be okay. The stench from the fingerboard is still there. I've never had that before. All in all, it's a good bass now, but the fact that Fender puts out something like this is a big disappointment.

@@Nick-sz4iv Really, I played one at a store I didn’t feel much of a difference but maybe I didn’t play it long enough, at least “significant” difference. .I bought a Vintera 50s because I wanted that 50 neck, then they change the specs on the Vintera 2?? Listen to all the bullshit about where it's made. US, Mexico or Japan all have build skills. It's the materials and hardware that varies. If Fender force the Mexico plant to use cheap hardware it doesn't make Mexican build less than US. Way to much blind patriotism here. Why's the recording of these sound so bad? It's like they're using a distortion effect.
