V.C. Kelley Caltech. Did a quick search of the information from the wall. I believe that is Vincent Cooper Kelley 1904-1988. From reading his memorial I would like to think that it puts a face to the name on the wall. His life was geology.

2:02 Minute Maid owned Hi-C and was bought by Coca-Cola, who created their Food Division in Houston in 1967. Since there's no UPC code, that puts this can between 1967 and roughly 1974, but the ad copy out there shows a label style change ~1970. So the Hi-C can probably dates 1967-1969. 2:45 Alpha Beta was a food market chain, this was store branded... 'Alpha Beta Acme Markets" was a 1961 merger, but various other things lead me to say it's about the same date as the Hi-C can. Its complicated.
@HighlanderNorth12 жыл бұрын
I looked up the Hi C can to figure out the approximate production date, and it appears to be from the 1950s. The cans from the later 60s and 70s had different imagery on the label. The cartoon kids & giraffe on the cans were featured in the 1950s. They apparently started selling Hi C in 1948, but I'm not sure of the label from the late 40s. I guess its possibly this could be that early.
@mfree802862 жыл бұрын
@@HighlanderNorth1 Not with the Coca Cola food division text on the label at the bottom, it didn't exist until 1967. That's why I was going over ad copy as well, Hi-Cecil lasted until 1969/70.
@bmh67wa2 жыл бұрын
From 1962 to 1964 Alpha Beta's juice cans carried that label design and they had no pull tab opening. In 1965 they added the pull tab and the label remained unchanged until early 1970.

It would be interesting to see what ore richness you're actually finding. That argentite boulder at the end - amazing! Only saw stuff like that once, Gold Hill mine in Utah. Found tons of Galena and the most beautiful massive Smithsonite ever.... Back in 1979, ancient history....thanks kindly to your ad friend Steve for the info and letting you explore... Cheers....

I remember HiCecil as a kid! A lot of these old mines could no doubt be reactivated as this doesn't appear to be played out. The price of the mineral is what closes most as the old owners couldn't make a profit.

Long reply.. I love this video! Were you alone there filming as well as exploring ? I didn't hear anyone in a support or back up roll, following you throughout? Were there any small pieces of silver ore laying about or on/in the floor-in the skip piles? I love the respect you extend to your friends and owner(s) of these mines, honesty as well as integrity are traits in short supply today. These places of living American history show us a different time, not so long ago, when American workers.. men were men ( as well as women) did not hesitate to work in hazardous conditions doing seriously hard work, to earn their 'living wage'. This is diametrically opposed to many (so called) human beings of 2021. These people want to sit at home in front of a 90" TV screen, purchased from China, with welfare money, and collect a government approved check for doing nothing. Even worse, the expect pay for doing nothing at a job requiring ZERO skills, ZERO edu-mic-ation, drive, ability or any desire to better themselves through education, training and-or hard work. Had these Snowflakes, Gen-Z''s, Millennials, Post Malones (whatever they call themselves) as well as all the rest of the whiny, new age, participation award receiving non-hackers been required to do this level of hard work for this kind of pay (not that great in retrospect), not to mention the serious risks to life, limb, long term health, possible disability or even death at every turn, had to support themselves, their families, children, et-al, back then, the USA would have never become the country it rose to become after the mid 20th century, .. Not to mention how it largely compared to the remainder of the modern globe back then. It does my wife and I good to see a person such as yourself giving back to all of us. Someone who goes out and explores things, our history, our nation and the world in general all of us live in. Watching someone such as you, share their experiences with others everywhere who may have no idea such as world existed up to recently maybe 35 years ago, and continues to, watching in under-developed nations around the world today, is nothing short of amazing. Thinking on it further, seeing these mines, makes one think about those poor souls in mines who dig in horrid conditions for Blood Diamonds, people today forced to extract toxic minerals or precious metals required globally,.. for the USA to exist and grow richer. So many younger citizens today have no idea that in order for all of us to enjoy the modern, cheap throw-away TV's computers, or PlayStation, produced in China, for sale over the internet, especially stuff on Amazon, requires many people worldwide to risk it all. In many cases they lose their lives, health or both , simply to allow us Americans to sit one their hind end at home, contributing ZILCH, reaping fruits of their labor. People worked in the mines to produce needed materials for us to win World Wars, to keep people free with the right to be stupid, selfish, lazy non-contributing, without starving or being executed, as they would in so many other countries, even today Again Dan, allow me thank you on behalf of so many out here watching this video for sharing your mining and electronics adventures with us, as well as educating those who cannot even compete with your mad electronic skills as well as bravery, tenacity, intelligence, comedic flair, straight forward beliefs, and hilarious tell-it-like-it-is sense of reality. All of your videos make my day, no matter how, bad, sad, or whatever it was before watching you. I only hope before I'm too old to one day to be in the LA area, perhaps on the way to Hawaii for a Honeymoon, to Alaska, or just to visit beautiful sunny California mountains and coastline. A cruise up PCH or into the mountains in a fast car that handles is another dream, or to 4 wheel in the desert or mountains. Maybe even check out a mine out your way . I dig history, which you have so much of out there that us unspoiled. Perhaps maybe you'll visit PA here, or the East Coast on some future journey to check out Pennsylvania mines, our living history here in Gettysburg, or other things we offer. The wife and I would love to meet you, if you do get out this way, and we'd be quite happy to put you up at our 1860's Civil War Era home then show you around. It's not sunny California, but it's nice here too and it's home with a lot to see and explore. There are lots of places to find vintage gear, vintage cars, TV's, fish, go 4 wheeling in snow, mud, the beaches that you can drive on within a few hour drive at max, whatever else you might be into. Any who, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza, Chanukah, New Year, or whatever political social religious beliefs you may or my not celebrate. If none of the above apply, blow up a TV or EOL something that makes you and yours happy on whatever day over the coming weeks that make all of you happiest. Meanwhile, I'll 12-gauge or AR-15 a CRT or flat screen of some Tatung/Hi Sense/similar POS Chino TV, over the coming holiday weeks, in honor of you, while celebrating the coming financially devastating holidays while thinking of you. Nothing screams Happy Holidays like being in crippling debt the next 11 months just to enjoy one single day of the year. Meanwhile we are systematically manipulated and pressured by our elected overlords and their minions, to overspend ourselves into paralyzingly crushing debt, dying from stress and hypertension, only for said loved ones to be forced to purchase a 5$ casket Hecho En Mexico, leaving those not-so-loved-ones to finance a 10K$ funeral at 29.99% interest compounded hourly, which they aren't able to afford either way! All this to be with people you wouldn't want to be caught dead with the other 364 days of the year, unless you stood to inherit a Queen Mary size lump of cash from. Hey Ho, where the Big Girls At ! ?? Ciao and All The Best
