I think something to point out with the technology mod is that Minecraft plays more like tech, whereas the world itself presents itself more fantasy. We make things like water elevators, mob grinders, ender pearl portals, ice bridges, automated farms, and etc. All within the base game, and so people are trying to expand upon that. I think it's harder to make a fantasy mod as that's more involved within the world itself, but not the gameplay. Sure we definitely have elements of fantasy within gameplay, but a majority can often be tech like. I personally prefer fantasy, and it's why I love magic mods, but I can acknowledge why one is more prevalent than the other. Honestly great video!

I agree and maybe ill look into it more one day. but i think aesthetically magic mods work better with the game. (i do love techmods tho)

Thaumcraft (specifically thaumcraft 4 for minecraft version 1.7.10) is probably my favourite mod of all time. It had so many awesome addons too. Team COFH (not original creator Azanor) is actually working on making a Thaumcraft for modern versions as we speak. It will probably take quite a while to be done but i am still very hyped for it.

I think that tech mods end up being more popular because technology almost feels like a type of magic (think like Artificer in DND) also magic sounds unpredictable and due to the varying degrees of how much sense a magic system makes, tech mods seem more concrete. That being said though, where are the magic data packs :'(

hey i noticed you didn't mention a recently popular magic mod called Iron's Spells and Spellbooks, it revolves specifically around spells and i think its pretty good

A magic mod that i wish was more influential and survived into later versions us mystcraft, the only other mod that is even vaguely similar(to my knowledge) is RFTools dimensions Loved being able to customize a dimension to your very own, and the instability mechanic made it feel more interesting and balanced

in my experience mystcraft has alot of bugs (especially in large modpacks) and has alot of performance issues. it can be very difficult for server owners to deal with (thats why i stopped using it) but it is a really cool mod and the game its based off is even cooler.

i was hoping one day someone would notice, yes it is but thats not originally where its from. its actually the startup sound for an old mac computer. I just used it cause it gave off that retro vibe i was looking for.

that mod is only for newer versions, doesn't seem that influential being so new.

Botania is a magic mod only in visual, its actually a tek mod in disguise

@@anlog7 Hex Casting is super fun if you're a specific kind of nerd; it's practically a stack-based eso-lang implemented into Minecraft, so you can do just about anything with it, and the process of actually getting things done with it is very satisfying once you actually figure out the basics but the learning curve is literally a programming language.
