I stayed in Minato when I was in Tokyo. I loved it so much. I loved walking from Shinagawa station to where we were staying. It's a cool place, so much different from anywhere in my little country. I loved the canals and all the fancy tall building. I stayed in Bay Crest Tower and it had a great view over The Rainbow Bridge.

I lived in Akasaka Minato-Ku for 2 years in the 80"s. It has changed so much. Especially Roppongi. We used to go to the American Club all the time. I especially liked the fact that the American Club was next door to the Russian Embassy. Back during the cold war era. Also, we went to Disneyland when it first opened and it was more educational than true Disney. It looks better now than then. It was quite small. Thanks for your videos.

I did the Ferry thing from Asakusa down to near the Hamarikyu gardens when I was visiting. It happened by accident, I did the Senso-ji temple and wandered around, went to the place where they make the plastic food. Kappabashi dori I think if I recall correctly. Then I had lots of free time so I ended up near the ferry thing, and looked at where it went, and thought... Oh... I can do the gardens today if I use the ferry. Sat next to some Australian grandma. She was pleasant company. I didn't go all the way to Odaiba until days later. No groundhogs for me at Odaiba though.

Eric was a little puzzled over a restaurant that served wine and other alcohol in the morning. We used to call these places "third shift restaurants." I worked third shift for 7 years. When I got off work it was nice to go with my friends once in awhile to have a drink or two and a bite to eat before going home and going to bed. People who get off work at 5 p.m. (or whatever) do that too.

The train that connects Toyosu and Shinbashi (via Odaiba), the Yurikamome line, is actually NOT a monorail. Lol. It's like a new form of railway system that instead of using conventional rail tracks, they run on rubber wheels and the train is controlled automatically (sometimes manually during peak hours) with guide wheels that swift on the sides of the guideway. It's pretty cool - a lot of people confuse it with the monorail (like the Tokyo Monorail that connects to Haneda) but since I have one of these systems in my hometown I'm pretty sure that it's not a monorail and it's a pretty cool and good system. Cheers!

I know this is an old video but in regards to the statue of liberty question, there are actually two statues of liberty. One in France and one in new york. There are hundreds of replicas around the world BUT the French one did appear in Japan around the early 2000's. A replica of that specific one was erected in Osaka in the america village. I don't know if it still stands, so maybe this is just a replica of that one but its interesting that there is an actual copy in Japan as well. :3 keep up the videos!!!

Knowledge is power. I thank you for letting me have that on Japan through your videos/vlogs. I was wondering if you have any recommendation or lead me to some information regarding the best place to stay in the Tokyo Metro area for first-time tourists who may be following your path to the attractions you've been at around Tokyo. I don't mind staying at cheap places since most of the time, we'd be outside sightseeing-- as long as the area is safe. Being close to the Yamanote line would be ideal (right?). Thanks in advance guys!!
@kydeanderic
@kydeanderic 8 жыл бұрын
+Ted Schactimera Yea, being somewhere near the Yamanote Line is going to make getting around super easy, but it really depends on your budget. If you want to save some money you can look for a place a little but outside of the city. Use google maps to route from prospective hotels -> major areas you want to visit and see how long it will take on the train! -Eric
@butipasila
@butipasila 8 жыл бұрын
+Kyde and Eric From the blogs I read, many tourists prefer to stay in the Shinjuku or Shibuya area. I was thinking more of an AirBnB arrangement and then just take the train to the city if staying at the AirBnB will save us money. But then again, would you recommend Shinjuku and/or Shibuya? Thanks.
@kydeanderic
@kydeanderic 8 жыл бұрын
+Ted Schactimera It's really up to what you want to spend versus how much "commuting" you are willing to do. Check train schedules on Google maps and balance out what is best for you. If you aren't too worried about money or find a good deal stay close or inside the city! -E

I believe Roppongi is sort of like the more seedy side of Tokyo, its main attraction is night-life so unless you are a party animal its probably not so much fun to be had. I've heard a lot of horror stories from that area involving people getting their drinks spiked and being charged outrageous sums of money for drinks that they don't remember purchasing. Tokyo is one of the safest capitals in the world, but Roppongi has a bad reputation so be careful!

That bicycle tower parking garage is far out! If we have that here in the states, bike theft would be cut down a few percentages.

+jefferi chang If your stomach can handle spicy stuff, it can give you a nice little rush. Also, you build up a tolerance to it the more you eat it. I've heard plenty of stories about students from India that go to other countries and eat milder food a lot and they go home and eat their mom's cooking and think it's too hot...

Not trying to drive you crazy with a really irrelevant question but I think its just a cultural difference and I would like to understand the spelling and pronunciation if possible please. thanks love the channel

If I was attacking that ramen Eric got, I'd probably try mixing the butter and corn into it's own little puddle or something... Kyde's ramen looked like what I often try to make at home when I'm feeling fancy.
