Thank you for this video! Probably the best and honest ones I have seen. I think I would go to Tulum for the cenotes and ruins.

Damn! This was definitely an eye opener. I thought Tulum would have been a great trip, beauty and budget wise. Thanks for the information... I'll be looking to go elsewhere.

Unfortunately yeah, there are other places in Mexico along these coasts that are comparatively budget-friendly and where you can get to know Mexican culture (not the capitalized version of it)

You are correct in most of your observations. Place is a mess, and overhyped. Better places up and down the coast.

Hey Zack, thank you for this very interesting Video. I´m also planning to visit Tulum in the end of August. Do you have any recommendations for the nightlife scene without the crazy prices ? Good luck for your channel und viele Grüße aus Berlin ;-) Björn

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. When it comes to nightlife in Tulum, I really enjoyed a spot called La Guarida. It's a chill café with a unique vibe, and at night, a DJ brings the place to life. The prices there were quite fair compared to some of the other spots around. As for proper nightclubs, most of them are on the same strip by the beach, like Bonboneire, Mia, Bagatelle, Vagalume, and Zamna. But just a heads up, as I mentioned in the video, these places can be super pricey. Good luck with your trip, and viele Grüße nach Berlin! ;-) Zack

Thanks for your video, it's the most informative I've seen so far! Would you still recommend Tulum for a honeymoon? We are not on a tight budget... but want to make sure we enjoy our stay, since it's obviously a very special trip to us and Tulum is on my bucket list for a long time now

@@mrvv89 thanks, but as I said, we are not on a tight budget. Money is not an issue but if we get nothing in return, we don’t want to spend our honeymoon there ;)

Absolutely, Tulum is perfect for a honeymoon! The beaches and cenotes are stunning. I recommend renting a car because Tulum isn’t very walkable, and you’ll need it to get to the beaches or cenotes, or to carry heavy water bottles since tap water isn’t drinkable. Opt for an Airbnb with a kitchen for more flexibility and ideally close to a supermarket-Tulum has 3 major stores and many small ones, which you can easily find on a map. Also, bring any essentials with you, as some items can be pricey or hard to find locally. Trust me, shopping here is really different. Pack everything you need; don’t depend on buying stuff in Tulum or Cancun. If you decide to bike, make sure to pack portable front and rear lights and maybe helmets, since the roads aren’t well-lit or lit at all and traffic can be crazy. A torch is handy for power outages or when you are walking outside after sunset, and/or candles to set a romantic mood :D hehe, and a good book is great for when there’s no internet....or download some shows on your devices just in case or bring card games with you. Enjoy your special trip!

@@Mimi-pu3ltoh lol I totally didn't see the word NOT! Yes come to Tulum for your honeymoon, it definitely is beautiful but do keep in mind you will be unnecessarily overcharged by everyone and their mother. I know now you're not on a tight budget but getting overcharged simply because you are a tourist or might not speak Spanish, you'll have to like it 😜 but again, Playa del Carmen, Bacalar or Cozumel are friendlier options and make for a better overall experience. If you need any tips or recommendations, let me know, I live here ;) happy honeymoon! ♥️

Please stop advising people to say "they only have x amount of money on them" taxi drivers are agressive and WILL use violence against tourists. They will do anything to get the amount they think they deserve. The police is on their side. ALWAYS agree to a price BEFORE you get into the taxi, or simply decline the ride and try another taxi. But do not argue with them. It is dangerous.
