Living in the states, my travels have been 99% in the U S and at 71, I can only travel foreign countries through videos. What used to be troubled areas when I was much younger is now to be thought of as a beautiful country to be explored. It seems that people all over the world are friendly and just trying to survive and help strangers to their land. There are exceptions but most people truly kind. Thanks for showing us the beauty of this country. 👍👍

It's great to hear you're enjoying the series. I normally do a wrap up episode at the end if I have time which goes over most of those things but on average I am spending $10AUD on accommodation. Fuel is cheaper here than where I am from, it about $10 to fill up a tank which last 2 - 3 days. Food is cheap about $3 - $6AUD, ferries were all cheap at a few dollars.

Love the videos. Would you be prepared to share the pins you are using for interesting places?
@freewayproject2 күн бұрын
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series. I am not sure how to share them (they don't have any information on the pins) but I normally do a wrap up video of the journey at the end so I'll look into it and see what I can do then.

Even the tourist loop isn't exactly Disneyland! Seams like a great ride. Too bad for those cops, though.
@freewayproject2 күн бұрын
Yes there weren't to many people when I was on the roads there. Luck of the draw wit the cops, but still totally worth it. Thanks for watching.

You should have filmed the corrupt Police and put it on KZbin. You would have been able to put a stop to it - just like Itchy boots did. Again, thanks for sharing. From New Zealand

I just wanted to get through with no issues, had to film in the police station. Thanks for watching.

How's your experience going on with scram as compared to the Himalayan?
@freewayproject3 күн бұрын
there are a lot more sealed roads in Vietnam so the Scram was better suited on them. I wasn't pushing it off road so the Scram handle what I needed it to.

Hey Joe. Love the videos of all your travels. Am especially interested in Vietnam at the moment as I am planning to travel this year in March/April, and contemplating doing it on a motorbike. What do you use as a navigation app/device, and where did you hire the bike from please, thanks in advance.

It's great to hear you are enjoying the series. Vietnam is an amazing place to explore on a motorcycle. I have an app called GaiaGPS on my phone which allows me to have offline maps. Royal Enfield organised the motorcycle for me so it's one of theirs not a rental.

Another great video Joe. We are enjoying your travels... We have a question re riding in Vietnam without a valid drivers licence and insurance cover? Did the dealer who supplied you the Scram ask to see your licence and/ or discuss insurance with you?
@freewayproject3 күн бұрын
It's great to hear you enjoyed the episode. As mention at the beginning of the first episode Royal Enfield sorted the bike for me. The person I saw did not have an issue with the licence.

Look up the Vietnam Coracle website. Lots of maps, routes and info on trips.

I might do a review at the end of the series like after the Himalayan series if i get time, but I did not record anything I am just going off memory. The suggestion below looks like a great resource.

Hey Joe, returning to Vietnam for my second time In April. Skipped the Ha Giang Loop due to inexperience on a motorbike, but will be doing it this time. Do you mind sharing how large the police fine was? thanks
@freewayprojectКүн бұрын
It's definitely worth going and exploring the loop as you'll see in the next episode it gets even better. The donation was around $60AUD, they start of a lot higher. It a bit of the luck of the draw if they are there or not, but have some cash stashed away incase then say this is all i have no me (in cash) as a negotiation tactic. I am not sure if I paid to much but totally worth it to explore the loop.

Hi Joe, love your videos. Hey I noticed there was almost no tourist traffic in this episode. Seems all other Ha Giang youtube vids mentioned the traffic, particularly the tour groups. What was your experience overall, is the loop busy or still off the tourist trail enough to avoid westerners? Thanks, Darragh
@freewayproject2 күн бұрын
It's great to hear you are enjoying the series, I leave early in the morning a lot of the time which means I can get out and explore with no one about. But I have not seen to many groups and I think they were local anyway, I have not come across to many westerners on the Loop (more in Hanoi). But even during the day on the roads it has not been that busy unless in a town, it could be the time of year, I was there in October. I do avoid the really touristy spots though.
