The Isle of Purbeck is the most beautiful part of Dorset IMHO. The pubs at Worth Matravers (Square and Compass) and Langton Matravers (Kings Arms) are great. Beautiful heathland on the IOP, Corfe Castle is stunning as are the views from St Aldhelm's Chapel and beach at Shell Bay.

Winchester is lovely! I would definitely recommend Portsmouth/Southsea...historic dockyard, Mary Rose, spinnaker Tower and the lovely seafront. New Forest is beautiful as is the South Downs. Enjoy! The titanic museum in Southampton is pretty cool too. Petworth House and Arundel Castle in the South Downs are beautiful. If you're looking for pretty coastline Chichester Harbour AONB is very picturesque

I love your videos - especially when you give your food commentary too! Jane Austin’s house which is in the village of Chawton near Alton, is open to visitors if you’re interested in that. As for Cathedrals, it’s not south but Lincoln is well worth visiting. I particularly like the sight of it on the approach to the city.

The market happens every week! The lady playing the harp is there every weekend and we also have a man who sits in a spiffy white suit with his electric guitar playing blues covers. We often have food festivals that involve the local business too. Our Hat fair is also another wonderful event with street performers, good food stalls, pop up craft stations that let you learn skills such as wood carving and lots of flowers crowns! Our Christmas Market is also considered one of the best, the whole cathedral is transformed with an ice rink and giant coldron of mulled wine in the center of the garden grounds Those houses you saw on the river cost over a million pounds 😅 and unfortunately the black boy closed recently

Another enjoyable video. Ive noticed people recommending Cambridge to you, which I totally with. If you do, may I suggest you extend your visit into the adjacent counties of Suffolk and Norfolk. There are some really nice villages and towns/cities including Norwich, which has another beautiful cathedral. Although in my opinion, beaches/sea are prettier in the south west? there are lots of great costal places to visit, including the extremely trendy and traditional Southwold, with its excellent pier, and Mrs T's fish & chips, at the harbour. To the other end of the scale Great Yarmouth, with its amusements, entertainment and pier, and many other places in between. By the way, Ive never seen any US youtubers visit that part of the country.

If you want to visit some lovely beaches over the summer the Isle of Wight is such a lovely place to go! We also have the UKs oldest “theme park” Blackgang Chine - dogs are allowed inside - which is a great day out and has some amazing views out to sea! It is also host to some great wildlife and one of few places you can see red squirrels in nature due to the Solent separating us from Mainland UK stopping the grey squirrels from being able to fight them. Osbourne house is a lovely national trust property what used to be the holiday home for queen Victoria, you can walk around the property itself, all of the grounds including her private beach and the children’s play house, definitely worth a visit!

Whilst your in Dorset you should try to find a bakers that does a lardy cake as they are so delicious, it’s basically a fruit cake that’s made with yeast so quite bread like but if you get the flat square one rather a round taller one it will be so sticky with lard and sugar it’s amazing! The round taller one isn’t as good and just like normal yeasted fruit bread. The flat one is addictive!!

Hi guys you should of showed us what you were drinking in the backstreet boozer the black boy. PS you should of asked how it got it's name. If you get a chance to visit the picturesque ruins of Glastonbury Abbey in Somerset you'll get a chance to see how some of these alleged artifacts from the time of King Arthur came about. For the Abbey boasts the site of both King Arthur's AND Queen Guinevere's tomb! Arthur if he existed at all is identified by modern scholarship as probably an unusually successful British/Welsh/Romano-Celt military leader active in the early 6th century AD. Glastonbury Abbey is indeed a genuinely old religious centre dating back to before the Saxon invasions, the Saxons being the people Arthur would have been fighting against, and it's located in the general region where resistance went on longest to the Saxons in what eventually became England. Much later, after invading Normans conquered the Saxons and took over, Glastonbury Abbey became a wealthy pilgrimage hub. It featured as a special attraction a collection of dead saints' body parts or relics, as per the Christian belief system of the time. But in 1184 disaster struck - the Abbey burnt down, with the flames destroying the valuable relics collection. But undaunted, the industious monks of Glastonbury set to work rebuilding. And, a few years later, what should they discover underground as they excavated around the site but an extremely large and impressive oak casket containing two skeletons. A nearby lead cross bore the helpful inscription "Here lies buried the famous King Arthur" in Latin. The monks were delighted - and the pilgrims flocked back!

Apparently, "The Black Boy" was one of Charles II's nicknames, so there are no unpleasant connotations :) (I didn't know this, I Googled it! :D) Also, if you're interested in Roman stuff, Pevensey Castle on the Sussex Coast was built in the ruins of an old Roman fort, Anderitum. Whilst the fort is long since decayed, and the castle itself is a touch worse-for-wear, the Roman walls surrounding the castle are still very much in tact! Though, I doubt a visit to the castle would take more than an hour.

Winchester is an historic city often overlooked by overseas visitors. I knew little about it until my youngest son attended school there for six years, during which I managed to get there twice or thrice each year and grew to love the place. That river is The Itchen and you can walk alongside it (The Itchen Navigation Canal) all the way down to Southampton - a beautiful 10 mile stroll. Southampton is where I live and it boasts some pretty good Norman city walls, an amazing Tudor House and Tudor gardens open to the public and a Titanic museum (this was the port of departure for the Titanic) and really great art gallery both in the Civic Centre. Chill out in the extensive, beautiful parks or shop and dine in the large West Quay Mall. You can hop on a car ferry from here to take a trip across The Solent to The Isle of Wight which is full of amazing history and interesting places to visit.

Try visiting Arundel in West Sussex, great castle and a couple of very dog friendly pubs( food served all day) the Swan in the town square, and The Black Rabbit right along side the river Arun, goods amazing there's Arundel Park and Swanbourne lake, and a wildfowl sanctuary. Nice beaches nearby too.

You should go to Portsmouth. It is famously an island city. Interestingly there was no island there once. The huge thriving beautiful metropolis of Southampton, 17 miles east of Portsmouth actually needed somewhere to dump it's sewage and used a huge barge to float it along the Solent, eventually, after hundreds of years, creating an island. The city is nicknamed Pompey which is a corruption of "Poop and Pee" which amazingly the locals are very proud of. I would advise a little some sort of vapor rub under the nose if you go at low tide.

You should not feel bad about the name "Black Boy", at all! Why??? Because "black boy" has zero racial connotations, "black boy" is a reference to King Charles II who was often called this because of his jet black hair. This topic kind of of annoys me because we've already had some streets called this renamed, erasing our history, because it's assumed it's a racial term, when it is not. Love your videos!

Mat c that's because people in this country always think it must be better abroad. Take a lovely country or seaside scene and the comment us y could almost be abroad it annoys as does that saga advert

@@tenniskinsella7768 True. But it's the same locally. A lot of people, including myself, just become 'bind' to our own local spots sometimes too. It's a good lesson in making the very most of the weekends, whenever possible and seeking out and travelling to new, exciting and unusual places in the UK. And still go abroad once a year. Routines and ruts don't help.

The cathedral has a few other things worth mentioning. In particular the story of the diver who worked for years placing bags of cement in the total dark in the flooded foundations. In the chancel are the caskets containing the bones of the Saxon kings including Canute.

I hope you enjoyed Winchester. I graduated there in the cathedral and we couldn't wear our mortarboard caps inside because it's a cathedral which was a bit lame! Also lived with a lovely girl from Ohio when in student halls.
