Exploring Abandoned Mines

Exploring Abandoned Mines

4 жыл бұрын

This is the story of Anyox and Phoenix, two of the largest Copper mines in the world. They were abandoned 100 years ago. Today they lay in ruins totally deserted except for their graveyards. We explore the miles of underground workings that remain to this day. This film was produced with the help of Telus Storyhive that provided a $ 60,000 grant. The film has been shown in film festivals around the world.
We've explored hundreds of abandoned mines in Canada the United States and Mexico, going places nobody else would dare to go! A New video is produced every Friday, check us out here:
• Newest To Oldest Videos
We do this for two main reasons:
1) Documenting the mines for future generations.
2) Collecting artifacts for our museum.
Mines are being filled in, demolished, and/or collapsing at an alarming rate, so it is crucial to document them and save these artifacts while it is still possible.
Join us for our weekly adventures as we go deep underground into historic abandoned hard rock Gold, Silver and Copper mines. We relive the Prospecting, Gold Rush days, going back in history with every expedition. Visiting abandoned and forgotten places, climbing down mine shafts into dangerous mines, finding treasures, seeing antique heavy equipment such as ore carts, crushers, milling machines, ball mills, explosives and other mining equipment.
This isn't Minecraft but the real deal!
Come visit our Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum in Grand Forks, B.C. Canada. The museum is open to the public, free of charge, donations gratefully accepted. We have a huge assortment of mining artifacts accumulated from abandoned mines, donations, and other collections. We also have operating mining equipment on display.
Museum is located at 5615 Kenmore Rd Grand Forks BC Canada V0H-1H4. Best to phone first 250-444-0183. Come for a visit! www.google.com/maps/place/Exp...
We have a merch site where you can purchase stickers, hats, hoodies, t shirts and mugs. New items being added. www.eammerch.com/shop

Imagine what Anyox would be like if it wasn't blown up by them! There's already miles of tunnels but it must've been truly massive before that. Anyox always fascinated me since your 1st visit, practically untouched since they left it. Real shame the town burnt down.

Absolutely awesome, when you consider just how much work went into making this, it really does give a great snapshot as to just how dangerous abandoned mines are but it also shows all of the cool history behind how these mines came into being in the first place and their individual histories. Thank you Frank it was amazing to watch. x❤x

Back in '93 I was on a team rugby tour to Wales . One of the touristy destinations was Big Pit Mine in Blaenavon. It was an unreal experience. My great great great grandparents lived in Phoenix Arizona before they passed but I remember going to visit and my grandpa telling us countless stories of the mining towns that littered the state but now there's no trace really and me being the explorer at heart he made it a point to tell me that mines abandoned or not is no place for a lady like me. I miss his stories. Thanks for your hard work and taking thousands of people with you on your adventures

Frank, my dad was a mining engineer educated at the Montana School of Mines in Butte Montana. For that, I grew up all over the world as his jobs took him to some pretty exotic locales. To me, Peru is still where all of my fondest memories are, not only of my parents, but of the things I saw and did. Dad used to take me exploring some of the ancient Inca mines in the high Andes of central Peru, fascinating is an understatement. Some of the things I saw and did with my dad stay with me today many years after the events. I would be most interesting to have a conversation with you. Regards, Scott B

The documentary is brilliant, so interesting and put together beautifully. I watched it a couple of times when it was first released because it’s so fascinating. Frank documents the history and tells the story so well. I haven’t revisited it in a while as there are so many of Frank’s exciting escapades to watch and of course always something new every week. I absolutely loved watching this again. I like the story of how Frank’s interest began and progressed. The amazing history of the towns and the mines, with photographs from the period. The beautiful scenic landscape shots, as well as all the amazing artefacts, machinery, miners art and awesome rock formations and colours. The documentary brought everything together and really portrays Frank and what he does. 🤩 🤩

Grate stuff Frank. Can't wait to see it over here in the UK, Not much to document here in South Wales as when a mine was closed the shafts were caped off towards the top and most of the land was reused or they would demolish the buildings and turn it into parkland. There are a few mining museums but only one where you can go on a proper underground tour. keep up the good work and stay safe.

I lived in Vancouver for many years and got very interesting in BC mining history so I really appreciate what you're doing Frank, nice work. Most of what you're showing is hidden from almost everyone so it's cool to see things that we otherwise wouldn't. In the South Island of New Zealand most of the mine shafts are flooded so these areas are mostly inaccessible but still interesting.
