In this episode we are still in Georgia and visit Tskaltubo, Stalin's forgotten spa town. It was famous in the Soviet times. In the town you can find 19 sanatoriums and 6 bath houses which got abandoned after the fall of the Soviet Union. Shortly after that during the Abkhazian war, Georgian refugees were given temporary shelter in these buildings. Almost 30 years later hundreds of families still live here.

25:50 All of the drone footage here is fantastic, but this part (should I call it scene?) going up from the round pool through the top of the dome, and finally getting a panoramic view of the building, several layers of round shapes from bottom to top, that was cinematic awesomeness! My jaw really dropped at this.

Another great production Gentlemen! While it may be somewhat out of your realm of video style, I couldn’t help but want to learn more about the people living there in a documentary-type of format with interviews with the inhabitants. Why were they there? Do they pay rent? How long have they been there? It’s very curious because on the one hand it’s abandoned and derelict but on the other people are calling it home.

@temokue
@temokue 10 күн бұрын

It's a great pity that such buildings are falling into disrepair, the state should take reconstruction as a priority, otherwise they will regret it one day, because it can happen that the buildings fall to such a degree that they can no longer be reconstructed. If they do not have enough money, they should do a temporary reconstruction of the walls to the point of stopping the decay, and board up all the entrances, doors and windows with wooden planks so that no one can enter and cause damage, and when better times come, rebuild just as it should be. These buildings would be useful for various needs like, say spa, museums, whatever, just to preserve this beautiful piece of architecture. I hope they have so much responsibility and realize the value of such architectural gems.
