Great Video! Update...from my previous comments... and still way late to this conversation, but I though , it’s Crazy someone or the family walked away from all this family history ...I couldn’t resist but to do a little research here ,on this family. Seems the guy lived in his childhood home most of his life. And indeed both his father and grandfather were Dentists. His Father , who was the Dentist was born in the 1878, and passed away after already being retired in the 1950s, so I’m sure most of that equipment and the teeth were from the turn of the century. If any of the relics came from the Grandfather then you are looking at the 1800’s since the grandfather passed in 1897. The son , and final owner showed up at 29 years of age in the 1940 census , still living at home with his parents. He went off to world war2, came back working as a machinist . I see no records of him having any family living there beyond his mother who had passed away in the early 1960s. The son passed away in 1998, so that house has probably been vacant since then. Sounds like a sad ending , and maybe the reason nobody was left to inherit some of these family possessions by 1998. I would still love to know the build date on that home. Once agin great video by the two of you.

Rick and Becka, I enjoy your show. Some of the unidentifiable objects you have come across (and or mislabeled) are so familiar to me. I have been a abandoned home searcher and antique collector for as long as I can remember. It would greatly help if you and Becky read up on antiques so that you have a general knowledge of all you find. Books are in the library also. I watched a video in which you did not know why there were windows above the doors. These are called “transoms”. Back in the day the transom window would be opened to circulate the air. As we know, heat rises so this would keep the air moving above. The extra room off of the bedroom with windows is called a summer porch. This is where people would sleep during the hottest of nights.. the small kitchen area within the kitchen leading to the dining room is called a butlers pantry. This area was closer to the dining room, which made it easier for the Butler to serve and maintain dinner items without much interaction with family or being away from the dining room for to long. The many small windowed door is called a “French Door”.. The push button light is correct and a separate one would be to call the butler/ maid. Again I love your show! A lot of the colored glass you find is called depression ware. This was made during the war using coke bottles and other bottles and glass. The white vases are milk glass and very collectible. If you have a question about anything you find feel free to call me. If interested in my knowledge, send me your email and I will send you my phone number. Gratis of course. I would love to help you

In the bathroom, I remember my dad had a cup like that with a "brush" to lather on his face for shaving!! WOW!! That thin green towel hanging in the bathroom, I remember back in the day when washing machine detergent boxes has a free towel in it when you bought it!! Does anyone else remember that??? And Breck shampoo, I remember using that!!! LOL LOL, a flask? No Rix, it's a talcum powder container. Used to have powdered toothpaste (my dad always used powdered toothpaste) and foot fungus powder came in flasks like that! And Flex shampoo, I used that as well!! OMG, this is a total time warp!! Oh my goodness, Tinture of Iodine, we called that the "red stuff" back in the day! All I knew about it was that it burned like hell when Mom would put it on our scrapes and stuff!! Jergen's lotion in a glass bottle, my Mom used that exact stuff, I remember seeing the bottle like that!! So cool!!! You two are so cute at how excited you get when finding these treasures!! Keep up the good work Rix and Bekah!! We need some new episodes!! =)

I am thinking some of the really old stuff may have been things he collected. Like if I abandoned my house right now, you would find a big stack of 40's and 50's magazines and cookbooks, because I collect them. But I am an 80's baby. The bathroom reminds me of my granddads bathroom. He still has so much old stuff that he has not used in probably 50 years, but it still sits there, because it always has! Great video!

I really enjoy your videos because not only you show us in detail everything that you find, but you go the extra mile to explain. I wonder if those jars of shaving cream and the others have expiration dates, that'll give us more or less the time frame from when this house was liveable. This is beyond amazing! I'd be staying hours on end looking at all the antiques from this place. No doubt the person who lived there was definitely a dentist, or a denture technician. Epic finds for sure.

I'm 63 & I was surprised at the things in the bathroom like the glass Listerine bottle & the Breck Shampoo. I used it in the early 70's. What Rick said hit me like a bullet and is one of the things I wonder the most. "If the people could come back, what would they think." I also wonder 'What was this place left like when the owners left for the final time?' and 'What would the owners think of someone exploring their long abandoned and obviously not locked house because they were interesting in the lives of the previous owners for the sake of history?'

I loved it! the Popular Mechanics and the like were beloved by many people (mostly men). They were very informative if you wanted to learn more about mechanical things. My own grandfather (b. c. 1900) built an airplane from scratch using these kinds of magazines. I have a picture of their glider taking of in 1920. My father -in-law had collections of these magazines when they sold their home in the 1980's.

Did you note that the bottle from "Red Front Drug Store" only had a 5-digit phone number? That dates back LONG ago! We have been 7-digits since the late 50's in most of the country. Some little towns and areas did not upgrade their phone systems to the modern 7-digit type, but that still dates that back in the 50's I'm sure. Great Find!! I do worry about both of you without masks on in the mold and questionable insides of these old houses. After being a first responder for many years, there are all kinds of toxic gases you find in old structures due to the products of mildew, mold and other chemicals emitted from cans and bottles that have opened and leaked out. You two are great, and honestly I worry that you stay safe.

I would say the house was built in the 1940's by the appearance of the outside and the tiles etc. in the bathroom. The big coat is a wool army coat. The chair upstairs, I don't think is a dentist chair, but an antique barber chair.I think he would more likely have been a technician that had a lab in his house and made replacement implants, caps and dentures for dentists. I bet it was left to family, and like many, got what they wanted and abandoned it. Sad...sad. I would have loved to have been left that house.
