2 layers of foam tape for the bottom...one on top if the other? double thickness covering the whole bottom piece?

That's correct. I will say that my foam tape is not very thick so it is definitely required. Yours might be thicker, so put on your first layer and then put it in place to see if it is thick enough. You don't want that "divot" at the 26 minute mark.

when you add the inside where you do the folding is it paper or cardstock??

Hello Louise I am almost finished but I need help on the part celebrate. I got the folding mechanism but you don't show how to glue the foldout word celebrate onto the mechanism. I tried different ways but unsure if I glue it will it work?? This is a lot of fun !

The "celebrate" is a traditional twist and pop mechanism. The upper and lower sections of the opposite ends of the card are adhered to the corresponding ends of the "arms" of the mechanism itself.

I purchased the on Amazon. I have since tried to buy them again and they are not available from the same seller on Amazon. They are 8mm by 1mm so very, very small.
