Glad to hear y'all's positivity! I really enjoyed the movie as well. Wouldn't put it in my top 5 of the MCU but it was a genuinely fun movie. It reminds me of some of the best elements of Phases 2 and 4 and I hope that's indicative of what is to come.

Finally saw the Marvels tonight, and then came back to hear you two discuss the spoilers. I appreciate the positivity you both had towards the film; I went in with zero expectations and ended up really enjoying it! Not the best marvel movie ever, but solidly entertaining & fun. My partner and I really enjoyed the connection/chemistry between the 3 leads. Looking forward to seeing Iman Vellani become an even bigger, and more integral part of the MCU. Also, there were only about 7 people in our theater, but it seemed like everyone made noise/clapped/cheered during THAT cameo at the mid-credits.

I had low expectations coming into the movie theater but left very surprised with how enjoyable the movie was. I saw it in 3d which made all the space scenes just pop. Very excited for the future of the MCU after the end post credit scene. 🙌

It was exactly what it needed to be. The villain was a groan, had some interesting choreography, and was over as fast. But it didn't matter. The cast, ms marvel in particular, was stupendous, and made everything else kinda fade away.

The Marvels was really fun to watch. Iman was so good and expressed being a fan girl so well. I feel like I'm quite the contrarian, I usually pick things apart. But this was just fun, much like the Ms. Marvel show.

Loki Season 2 was good, but I kind of had the opposite effect with the show where I really liked episodes 1 and 2, but 3, 4, 5, kind of felt like they were spining their wheels a bit, and then 6 made everyhting click into place and it was rad. I enjoy the symbolism of the imagery, and I need to just go back and rewatch all 6 episodes to see if my feelings on the episodes that didn't hit for me as much work. The Marvels was great fun. It's not spectacular, there's definitely room for improvement, but I went into that movie to see Kamala Khan have great interactions with Monica Rambeau and Carol Danvers, and to see Nick Fury pet a cat, and dammit, I got that movie. The singing planet is stupid, but it's the right kind of stupid, like I'm pretty sure there's an episode of Star Trek that's exactly like that, or similar enough to it, it didn't bother me one bit, but what did is that everyone just looks like regular humans. We couldn't have fished them up even just a little bit since 99% of the planet's surface is water? No webbing in the hands, no gills on the necks, no little barbs or bits of scales or something to show an evolutionary reason for these people living on this planet? Fine, it's superficial, but I have no real problems with that planet. And the flurkens, man oh man, I loved it. This movie is just pure fun with some heart and relatively low stakes with the exception of entire worlds getting destroyed, but I'd liken The Marvels to being like the first two Ant-Man movies where it's primarily a comedy first, and a superhero movie second, but not to the degree that Love and Thunder blundered that ratio. Nando said it perfectly with just the title of his review, "The Marvels is whatever you want it to be," and how you choose to go into the movie is what you're going to get out of it.

Going to see the movie on Wednesday but I really have low hopes for it. Social media instantly spoiled the post credit scene 😭I’m so bummed out I would’ve been so excited to see that reveal if it were a surprise to me :(

Saw The Marvels with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Fun, if somewhat forgettable, movie. The 3rd act felt rushed/anti-climactic. Captain Marvel was more charismatic than the 1st movie and Ms. Marvel was a standout. Can't wait for Young Avengers. The final trailer was incredibly misleading and screamed of desperation on Marvel's part. The movie had nothing to do with Thanos or the original Avengers and the tone was completely different.

I disagree with your take on the marvels, I didn’t hate it like many other people have. I did think it was mismarketed, to the wrong audience and it should have been clearer from the advertising what demographic and age bracket they were aiming at. BUT. The singing planet was too cringe for me, it took me out of the film and made me want to walk out until it was over.
