Exponential Fourier Series:
Using the Exponential Fourier series, any periodic signal can be represented as a linear combination of the complex exponentials which are harmonically related to each other.
In this video, the relation between the coefficient of the exponential and trigonometric Fourier Series has been derived and at the end of the video, the concept of negative frequency is explained.

The real signal is the one which doesn't contain any imaginary part. All the signals which we are seeing in our day to day life are the example of real signal.

Complex exponential e^(jwt) is the example of the complex signal. On the other end, all the signals which encounter in real life are real signals.

According to the conviniency any of the form can be used. But exponential Fourier series is directly relatable to the Fourier Transform. But for academic purpose, Trigonometric is more easy for solving the examples. ( Particularly when there is a symmetry in the signal)
