We're curious, how do you prefer to transfer your images from your computer to your phone?

I always used Lightroom/ cloud, but I think there is something weird with white balance on Lightroom export for mobile lately.
@TheVisualCenter3 жыл бұрын
That’s sounds like a great solution. Strange about the white balance! What is it doing?

Just what I needed, a short video with the answers. It's rare to find videos that get straight to the point without a lot of nonsense. I'll subscribe and look out for more like this. Much appreciated!

Hi, nice video! As a photographer, i've tested so many exportng settings, one that fits me a lot is selecting long edge and limited to 3200 pixels, try it, it seems to hold the quality! If you try, give me a feedback on wich you prefer, long edge with 3200 or the width 1080, thank you!

Thanks Pedro. I’ll give it try and let you know what I think. Do you have a preferred method of transferring your images to your phone?

@@TheVisualCenter I use Dropbox or Google Drive

Hey Pedro will definitely try it and see how it works, any info on Facebook dimensions and sizes?
@Peter-rb4xk2 жыл бұрын
If I alter the settings, as instructed, will this be for only one image, or apply to all subsequent images for export? The reason I ask this is, I use Flickr as well, which I find I don’t have to alter to produce sharp images.

Another great video. So what if when editing my image, the crop I use is what best suits my eye but it’s not within the parameters of Instagram or Facebook? Lets say it’s just some oddball crop. Do they then just crop my image to what they want and then I need to go back into my edits to see if their parameters will work with the image I edited?

The most Instagram will allow is a 4:5 ratio in portrait, and about a 1.91:1 in landscape. You could use those numbers in preparing images for Instagram, or some artists will add white space necessary to make the ratio and maintain their original crop. As an example this artist does it for most of her work, and as an aesthetic choice for her account: instagram.com/brenda.b.lovell?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= I’ve done it as well, but in this example instead of white, I opted for grey: instagram.com/p/CY4cJjMPE9s/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Can I crop a photo taken horizontally to 4:5 or just 1.91:1?
@TheVisualCenter5 ай бұрын
You can crop a photo of any orientation to any ratio. You would just need to crop in much tighter. Be aware that you’ll decrease resolution the tighter you go.

Maybe make a video on Facebook dimensions and sizes as well and what type pc and Mac would be great for editing from the inexpensive to expensive

I transfer image to my phone via airdrop however the color is always different on the image in my phone from what my final edit is in LR on my laptop. It almost looks brighter and saturation is off. I’ve been looking everywhere but can’t find a solution and I don’t know what causes this.
@TheVisualCenter3 жыл бұрын
Airdrop is great! Yeah, that’s frustrating! What image filetype are you using? Which color space are you using when exporting? Are you using a Mac and an iPhone?
@supericardovlog3 жыл бұрын
@@TheVisualCenter the image file type from my canon to Lightroom is raw file .cr2 then I export as a jpeg with color space sRGB, and yes I’m using a Mac to iPhone :/
@TheVisualCenter3 жыл бұрын
Sounds good so far. Let’s get really specific now. Are you working on a calibrated screen? When you export as jpeg, are you using 100% quality or something less? Once you have the jpeg, what are you using to airdrop? From the file in finder? Do you open it in preview and then airdrop? Give us a detailed step-by-step. When you get it on your phone, is it in photos right away when it looks wrong or elsewhere?
@supericardovlog3 жыл бұрын
@@TheVisualCenter Not entirely sure about the calibrated screen but I just use my MacBook Pro (2018) never made any changes to the screen settings, I export jpeg 100%, I export it and it saves to my desktop and from my desktop, I click the file and I AirDrop the file to my iPhone. It goes to photos right away and the color is off right away. I’m curious, should I convert the .cr2 file to tiff before working on it in Lightroom? Could that be a reason for the change in color?
@TheVisualCenter3 жыл бұрын
No, I wouldn’t convert to tiff, your RAW file will have more color data in it so it would be best to work in that format. As for everything else, it sounds like your doing everything correct in your workflow. Which leads me to believe that your screen could be miscalibrated. This is something that happens over time. Especially if you’ve never calibrated since the the factory settings. At default Macs tend to run a little bluer than normal and sometimes slightly more contrast. If you calibration has gotten worse over time this could explain your issue. If you calibration is off you could be adjusting the saturation more than the image needs without knowing. I’d recommend starting with calibrating your screen and see if that fixes the problem. Check out our Digital Color playlist if you need help with that. kzbin.info/aero/PLcfaibhLz3jv2aH4ZouWvvL4vGwzGoKUE

Exporting to Instagram involves uploading to Instagram, but this video doesn't mention that, other than to transfer your image to your phone (which left me scratching my head). My question is: How do I upload a properly exported image to Instagram, directly from Lightroom Classic? Tx.
@TheVisualCenter2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately Instagram does not support direct upload from Lightroom. There used to be a plug-in that made it possible but Instagram changed its protocols and it currently doesn’t work. They are working on fixing it and if they do get it fixed we’ll for sure make a video for it.
