For all the experts out there, you cannot get concrete with any rock you want in it. Decorative rock is extremely expensive. If you want special rock in your concrete you would have to buy tons of it, have it delivered to the concrete plant, the plant is gonna screw you big time because cleaning out the plant and making a few yards of concrete with your special rock is a pain in the ass!!! These guys can literally put ANY rock in on top and only use a few hundred pounds. So if you happen to be Bill Gates, yes you can have any aggregate you want in your concrete. For everybody else this is about the only way to do it.

As usual the majority of coments come from The DIY armchair crowd. Yeah give me 13 yards of 5 sack with pami-pebble already in it. Besides although this honestly is a shitty job they needed to wait longer to seed it. But still the difference between top seeding and the bullshit way it's done now days is night and day. This method is so much more even and consistent.

Is this video like 25 yrs old. You can order the ready mix with whatever color aggregate you need. Pour, bullfloat, edge and powerwash..or use chemical retarder and powerwash the next day. I'd really like to see the final product. .

Lol what "colors" might those be? This is how exposed aggregate has been done since the beginning of time. ( It's actually a bad example of the process but it produces a much better finish than your method mentioned.

Throwing of aggregates may not ensure a uniform finish; can use chemical surface retarder which can be sprayed over green concrete soon after concrete placement after 3-4 hours / before initial setting of concrete. After 12 hours, with pressure jet of water over concrete surface, we can get exposed aggregate finish.

You said 100%Correct procedure sir

Throwing of aggregates has always given a uniform finish when the work is done by professionals ..and not donkeys! To be real...pressure spray is not the best way to get a good finish either..it tends to lift some pieces of stone...just one peice is enough to look like shit!

I've sprayed a sugar and water solution on the smooth finished concrete, let it set a few hours, until it will hold my weight and then lightly spray the surface to the desired exposure. This method is good if the exposed rock is cost prohibitive to used in the concrete batch.

Why not just use the aggregate mix from the concrete company and then float it and put sugar, soda, or the chemical liquid people use for the top layer of the concrete so it wont dry and you come back the next day and power wash it, it comes out better and cheaper
@cesara.pereza.12014 жыл бұрын
no wash next day that will be hard. after 45 minutos or 1 hour finish the put salb, do wash the slab. and scrub whit a broom, after get really dry and put clear sealer concrete.
@troybixby45684 жыл бұрын
The labor is crazy expensive doing the broadcast method, and he still needs to come back and power-wash regardless. Completely inefficient... Why jerkoff the bull float twice? This is a mystery...
@TimKollat3 жыл бұрын
@@troybixby4568 Only reason to ever do this is if customer wants a specialty aggregate instead of whatever agg batch plant has and is willing to pay premium for. Can only do small pours this way too, maybe 5 yard/400 sq ft. 20 years of doing exposed agg and trying all kinds of mix designs, I still prefer just the simple 3/8" natural pea gravel. Spray with retarder and come back next morning to power wash.

It depends on what kind of aggregate you want exposed, myself I order a six and a half bag pea gravel mix, looks beautiful and durable sometimes you can get a glowstone to broadcast not as heavy as that just randomly broadcast of glowstone over the surface so at night your patio lights up really looks nice on borders comes in several colors but you got to pay for it Maidenform concrete Highland Michigan 😎
@jeffp77764 жыл бұрын
There is NO WAY to get the rocks to the top if already mixed. Doing it that way gives you a nasty uneven mix if mostly rock and the rest cream. Top seeding ( although poor example shown here) is a much better consistent look when done correctly.
