Rewatched Wilder's fight against Chris Arreola; 8 years is a big difference in terms of physical ability, but his SKILL was so much higher back then! He easily beat him with almost just his jab. Wilder doesn't have that fire in him; he doesn't have the same speed or punch activity as he used to either. Just doing what he use to isn't going to work anymore at his age, not to mention his boxing skills have notably dropped. I went and rewatched his fight against Chris Arreola; not the best of fighters, but HOW Wilder beat him was what I felt impressed by. He beat him with a fast, stiff, and relentless jab. He didn't even need his right to beat him. He's definitely gotten WORSE with age in terms of boxing skills. Wilder should retire. 38, getting worse, and already made plenty of money... nothing left to fight for except injuries.

wilder is a cruiserweight that has been knocking out heavyweights. this could be a blessing for wilder, since jake paul may fight him now. then he can fight mahmoud charr for the belt, then fight usyk for the super belt. zhang was 70 lbs heavier and wilder is unable to overcome large size disadvantages. Malik was actually giving him good advice, but Wilder wasn't listening or doing what was told. That ko loss was all Deontay's fault! You need help to get better, especially when you're not that technically sound, anyway. No jab to set up the right hand, no legs for punch resistance, no footwork, no combos, no head movement, staying on the ropes too long, one or two punch arsenal, and lastly, no killer instinct! He may be able to bounce back, but he needs to release his ENTIRE team and go somewhere that he can grow.

Thanks! One of the very few honest assessments of Wilder. Too many KZbin content producers still trying to claim Wilder was great but it was because the even greater Fury ruined him. Truth is Wilder only ever looked good because of his level of competition and Fury only looked good because those who rated Wilder compared what he did to Wilder to what they THOUGHT Wilder would do to real competition (AJ, White etc); Wilder got exposed before he even got to that level!
