Hey! Operator dev here, I appreciate the honest feedback as its what I strive for to improve the game. This was the purpose of releasing on early access and so far it has been a success with the game being improved drastically since release due to community feedback and suggestions. I haven't pushed or paid any content creators yet as I want an organic audience before I'm ready to promote it since they would be the most honest imo. Anyway here are some bullet points.. - The current state of the game is sort of a sandbox mode while I improve the core of the game, polish and bug fix until I add the main game loop and tutorials. - Audio is a thing thats always being improved as well, with most of the missing sfx for weapons just being the lack of quality recording for it (of which i'm waiting for) - Graphically, most of the lack of fidelity is from the usage of realtime effects, realtime time of day system and just unity engine. Although there is good news with the new Unity 6 engine coming out later this year having major graphical and optimisation advancements so I can't wait for that to drop. - Optimisation has been tough to do, but has been steadly increasing and getting better over the updates. For instance, running 60 AI at release was impossible but now I can run 60 AI at 100 fps. The poor optimisation mostly comes from the AI so the less you run the better the frames. - In regards to the helmet camera it's meant to be a spectating camera for dead players rather than something to play with. Anyway thanks for playing and for the feedback. Come back next year for a totally different experience!

Wow I'm extremely impressed you took your time to 1. Watch my video and 2. Comment and elaborate on stuff. I won't regurgitate what I've already said but basically this wasn't a shot at your game but more a shot at how other content creators have promoted it like a finished product and the steam price just simply isn't worth it I'm it's current state. That being said I commend you on your efforts and your obviously a good person too (and a fellow Aussie extra points lol) I wish you nothing but success in the game and I definitely look forward to playing it with some updates. Thanks VectorAU!

keep going man , the game has tremendous potential , I hope you get more funding and stay truthful to the purpose. I understand the game is on early stages of development and you can feel that you have put a lot of attention to the community side of things and unlocking features that AAA studios don't have. Only to show that if you want you can build a game from the ground up with what the audience is looking for. I really can't wait to see the finished product. Supporter here !!!!!

Yes same situations happened with Direct Contact game as well..pre alpha stages / early access things shouldn't released on steam until it's fully developed & optimized..In today's time Ground Branch is still doing their best also Ready or Not although Ready or Not is mostly focused into CQB SWAT Simulation blended with Tactical elements but Ground Branch is focused into authentic Tactical Milsim elements like ARMA 👍

The game is so janky and looks so bad with such bad optimization, I can’t believe the positive reviews. Refund requested.

@@TimmyTacticalAs part of an indie team of two developers working on our own niche tactical shooter, we understand the struggle you're talking about. Hyped games that breach gamer-developer trust have a significant impact on the gaming industry, as they create a sense of distrust that benefits no one. It's the relationship between the gamer and the developer that must be cherished. Content creators who aim to help foster this relationship make a huge difference. Hence, the "thanks" :)

I was one of those gamers that saw the hyped up versions by some creators of Operator and bought it, only to find a mostly broken and unfinished game. I agree with you that the gaming community would benefit of more honest by gamers reviews. However I understood the process of early release of this game and to be fair, some of the creators I visited did mention that the game was "unfinished". So you kinda know what to expect. On the other hand , I understand that small devs have limited funds and ways to promote their content and hype it up , so using early releases , putting their content to the test with real audiences and relying on popular creators to hype up the content , is really the only way they can afford to put their content out there. Nevertheless , I agree with you, the gaming community needs more honest reviews and honesty on content before purchasing. Love your content , subbed. Small content creator here also.

I'm against small devs using steam to fund a project. I agree some devs are honest devs and trying to create something special but risk vs reward. Soon steam will be full of quarter finished games at best and they will be making money with probably no intention of finishing it just scan games. It's not supposed to be easy being a dev otherwise everyone would do it (which is what people are starting to do hence my concern) you want to create an amazing game use other funding options and reserve steam for a nearly complete game and use it to do the final touches.

Operator definitely does get repetitive, and most people will lose interest after an hour or two, and it really isn't the best at the moment compared to something like Ground Branch, but I still think It has great potential in the future. Right now the problem is that It's buggy, and graphics are somewhat broken, and is missing a lot of details, especially small ones, and that really ruins the immersion. But there is no doubt Vector is doing his best to try and fix those problems, and works hard on the game. But I still find the game somewhat enjoyable, and I don't believe that It's complete shit either. It's still fun to play.

I was a bit taken aback by the dev's decision to release this game on steam at such an early state. I initially got this game from the Patreon out of interest and the want to support the developer prior to the large content creators making videos on them. I feel as though this game got exposure far too early due to these videos, and the sudden demand pressured the dev to release in such an early state. I personally do not have performance issues with the game, but I can tell its very hardware dependent. While I do quite enjoy it, and will continue to play it, it is certainly nowhere near release ready. The dev seems to be quite the hard worker, so hopefully we see this game improve greatly. I have high hopes nonetheless. (edit: definitely going to sub though. Brief and to the point video, honest takes. Conveyed very well!)

What's your suggested strategy for indie game developers to fund the production of their games if they cant sell the early access. i think the idea is that games get released as paid early access -> people buy them + give feed back and that lets the dev's either hire someone or have more resources to put back into the game so by the time of official release its a polished game. other wise its impossible to compete with multi billion dollar AAA dev's that have endless money and resources. Or plan B is we just play a new COD each year and be happy with it? curious to hear your thoughts? great video though! totally agree the reviewers should be more honest when reviewing games!

Stay on Patreon, discord, gofundme, angel investors etc. Otherwise it's a slippery slope on steam, a games description on steam says "a tactical shooter that focuses on realism bla bla bla" then slaps a generic steam early access label on it with footage that has been reshaded and crafted to look like a complete game. I understand they need funding but if your going to create a game put a budget in for advertising and asking for investors don't just slap it on steam cause it just means anyone can half bake a game whack it on steam make money and never finish it, just opens the door for more scams if you ask me

I know as a content creator and probably played my share of the lesser-known games, even with indie games. I admit I love when there's a game that's by a smaller team that turns out well, and it sucks if the game doesn't get another game to try to improve on what they did with the said game. And then there's the small, lesser-known game that I played where I felt that it could've been done way better.

I know that even with the lesser-known games as there's been some I didn't mind making content for whether if it was either in written or video form, sometimes even doing both for a particular game. Some of them I feel is easier to do video form over written form, while I've had some I've played and wondered why I paid for a game that seemed to be cheaply made.
